if thats celsius thats way too high, thats 25 degrees farenheit, wich is not okay, you will brake **** at thos temps.

i have wired a couple water temp gauges so i know i can find your problem if its within the elcrical or gauge system.

so lets start off with is it electric or mechanical?and did you get the adapter for your radiator hose?

let me know about that...

GReddy radiator hose adapter, electric gauge Autometer #4355. The igniton wire is wrapped around a fuse in the fuse box (ghetto fabulous). The ground is going to the ground on the head (the big 8g wire that comes from the fuse block at the battery tray) and the signal, of course, goes to the signal wire. The first time I hooked it up, I think I had the ground and signal backwards, because it instantly went to full hot. Now, it seems to work just fine. Note: I am 100% sure that it was the ground and signal that were the wires in question...I made sure and kept the switched igniton wire under tabs at all times.

And to note: the gauge does read in farenheit FYI.

i dont know what the heck you doing with your fuse box.. but grounding it to the block is cool, the have the wire from your sender go to the "s" on the back of the gauge (or whatever for starter) then ground it and also give it a positive to ignition or the back of the fuse board or whatever....

i highly recomend that you do a good job for the wiring, crinmo style connectors, and the crimp styler things that have a circle (made of metal) to go around screws for a really good conection.

does your gauge still read hot?

Hey there is a coolant hose that runs from your firewall to the back of your block. . Its on the left side. It sometimes gets kinked and restricts the flow of coolant so check that out that might be the problem atleast thats what mine was.

There are actually 2 hoses that run to the firewall (feed to heater corea nd return) and they are all fine. After installing the gauge and fixing yet another busted stock coolant hose, I spent several hours yesterday hunting for leaks and making sure all air is out of my coolant system. Upper radiator hose get warm as appropriate and everything seems to be ok. If someone would just clue me to in to the proper temps in F for the CA I would appreciate it!

not over 200 for daily driving. it dpends on your thermo, if you just got stock i tihnkits like 82 or 88 celsius, then just add like 5 degrees after your thermo, my ka would chill at like 180ish os koyo and efans w/ 176# thermo.

Well it would make warming up the engine effectively impossible, so yes, that's bad.

well i dont have a heater or anything. so i wasnt really worried about the car warming up fast and stuff. i took it out because i figured it would help on keeping the car from overheating. but that problems solved.. i guess i could put one in..

you shoulld use a thermostat, to optimize performance and gas mileage...

if the engine doesn't hit operating temperature, which will take forever and a day with no thermostat, then it won't run right. things won't expand to the proper sizes, oil won't be the right viscosity, etc.

mileage ain't got nothing to do with it. always run a thermostat!

it's there for a reason, to maintain the temperature INSIDE the engine at a given temperature, thats why it opens after temperature X to let the water cool down and reach temperature X which it closes at again

I had a cheap O'Reilly thermo go bad after my 1st overheat issue (it wasn't a biggie) and it was stuck open. I wondered why in the hell my car was taking like 15 minutes of idling to warm up. I overheated again (the time mentioned in this post) and in the process of fixing it all I found that the crap thermo was stuck open!! Make sure that you only use OEM Nissan thermos as well. THe $13 one from O'Reilly was 88F while the OEM one is 82F, and MUCH beefier construction...and is $2 less!
