yup, timing belt replacement time! I got my Z in february with 101k and it now has exactly 105K. I dont know if the belt has been replaced and neither does the PO. I will do the 120k just to play it safe and not assume it has been serviced at 60k and i have some questions i hope you guys can help me out with.
I have learned the hard way "if it isnt broken dont fix it" and definetly dont want to learn "fix it till it breaks" on my Z timing belt, but would it be a bad idea to skip out on the water pump to save a $100?
i know im being a cheapa** asking that question but just wondering.
Nissan liquid gasket or RTV ultra grey for my water pump and thermostat?
Also, my car makes a squeaky noise when warming up, i know what a loose belt sounds like and its not that but this sound is more like a jacked up shopping cart wheel, im guessing its a pulley, could it be the tensioner or idler pulleys?
heres a list of what im getting:
timing belt
remeyz studs
idler pulleys
oil seals
thermostat
water pump
auto tensioner
vtc springs & o-rings

lil side note, i have 2 cars with KA(timing CHAIN FTW!)motors that im used to working on and VG is new to me so any input would be appreciated, thanks.

VG30DE engine maintence is best done in a preventative mode and timing belt age, not just miles, is also important. Last decided it was time to replace my timing belt (and oil seals, idler bearings, tensioner, accessory belts), because of a leaky WP.

New WP from Nissan comes with a paper gasket. Infiniti doesn't use/include one with the same WP. Go figure. Go with OEM and don't over-tighten new AC/PS/Alternator belts. Have seen several examples of bad/broken castings = fan in radiator.

Use ultra grey RTV, and also on both sides of the paper WP gasket.

Probably at least one of several timing belt/tensioner pulleys. Also check the CAS bearings, as they dry up and get rough/sticky, but don't attempt to take the thing apart.

Also probably a good time to remove the radiator to clean it of debris and have it flushed. I tore pretty much the entire front end off of my J30 in order to drive it up on ramps, and used dielectric grease on just about all electrical connections, when reassembling things.
