This morning on the way to Krispy Kremes here in denver, some very sad brand new celica gts owner is about to trade in his new car for a 240SX....

Here is what happened: We have those stupid stop lights and the beging of the highway here to get on I25 ( denver yes ) and some little punk pulled up next to me in his 00-03 Toyota Celica with his "TRD" racing sticker on his windshield....Started reving on me ( and my car is messed up right now ) and he took of pretty quick and got a little ahead ( saw the temp tag ) and than as soon as I got in 2nd gear POOF he ate my 240SX'S a$$..Wow what a waste of money that car was ha ha~

Yeah, the 1.8 VVTi-L in those GT-S put out 185HP and 160 or so ft-lbs with a broader torque curve than an SR20. The GT-S will come in just barely under 16 seconds on the qtr.

They make fun play toys for my '98 SE-R. Sometime I win, sometimes I lose... Ahhh the challenge.

Ya those aren't anything to mess with really.. the other model celly's are fun to beat.. but unless your car runs 16 and under.. Don't be stupid

whoa that thing isnt popping out 160 ft-lbs. Its 130. still fairly capable car, fairly capable engine. Engines actually pretty sick in a mr-s.

I thought they were 180 hp and 140 torque unless they gave em more power and torque for the new year cause I test drove an 01 gts and it was slower than my 240 stock.

you guys are right, it is about 130ft-lbs @peak. But yes my car is in the 15s (barely). And the GT-S are fun to play with on the road. If I get a good driver he usually beats me, but I always get a display of respect at the end of the run.

They run 15.7-15.9 in the 1/4mile bone stock. The auto is actually faster in the qtr because of gear ratio differences.

i dont see how u pulled that off considering his 7.46 o-6o is easily faster than your 8.1 and his 1/4 times of 15.48 @ 91.59mph is obivously qiucker than a 16.2o @ 86mph, im not doubting you, but im just going to say he was a terrible driver, either that or u are andretti ;)

you are assuming we were racing in a straight line.

Further I am not refering to a single instance, but several.

I also ran faster lap times at the autocross last weekend than my friend with a brand new engine in his gen 3 RX-7.

BTW I don't do 0-60 in 8.1, 7.52 and my 1/4 is 15.889@96mph

But I still wouldn't hold a candle to Mario Andretti.

there is a guy in the neighborhood with a GT-S and we take the same way home from work (at least some of it..)

If you've ever been to Ohio you'll understand when I say we take county roads home so we can play.

At the track I bet his ETs would still beat me. And to be honest the 96mph trap was a fluke. It was the only one ever over 92mph.

Oh, the solution to slow trap speeds...the right tire diameter!

You can still pick on the GT version.I wasted one of those the first week I had my Spec V.I'm not a big fan of the Cellica but the GT-s is an ok performer.TRD does have some parts to make it much better.(I would guess that he had some of or just the rice sticker)I dont like them for the same reason I don' tlike the RSX.The are too small and overpriced for what you get.

most cars in the same class as the spec V are VERY overpriced IMO, you can't get an acura rsx-s for less than 23k new, because they come loaded from the factory, you can't not get leather or sunroof or any of that crap, and the celica GT-S (manual) starts at 22,49o, hell even the underperforming civic SI stickers at 19k, and i must admit the o4 spec Vs ive seen on lots have gone up a lil in price, they are now nearing 19k, the ones ive seen were 18,4xx and 18,6xxx, but still, for the performance and practicality of a bigger 4dr, can't beat that

yea i was poking around on a celica forum awhile back and saw a chart with test results of about 10 different exhausts including greddy hks apex blitz TRD etc. and the TRD exhaust blew everything away

I will say TRD has their **** together here in the states. NISMO could take a few lessons.
