Yea, elaborate on the recall, I went to the Nissan USA site and found this:

240SX 1991 Recalls There are no recalls at this time

Check it out for yourself: http://www.nissanusa.com/form/....html

The automatic seatbelt assemblies were recalled. Just go to your Nissan dealer and complain that they come loose when you're driving or something. Parts and labor are covered.

But YES, there was a recall. Check Consumer Guide to verify it. Also, I have all the paperwork on the work, just to prove that it was ALL under a factory service plan. If any of you are doubtful about it, I can e-mail you guys what proof I have.

And no, the automatic seatbelt assemblies are not replaced with manual ones... you just get factory-new automatic seatbelts. Sorry if I miscommunicated that.

I KNOW for a FACT that the recall applies to all 1991 models... it may or may not apply to other model years.

So any dealer will replace the belts free because of the recall?

^^

Yes, as long as there's "something wrong" with the ones you've got and your vehicle is within the VIN range of the recall. My seatbelt warning light (LED in the dash) would come on erractically because of a loose connection in the automatic buckle. So they replaced the entire assembly, including my ripped seatbelt strap.

It was a happy day.

let me get this straight. i have a 1989 240sx fastback with the automatic seats i bought used just a few weeks ago. i can drive over to any nissan dealer around me and tell them that my seatbelts aren't very good. they will then replace my seatbelts with brand new automatic seatbelts free of charge.

is that correct?

Check with the dealer, but I doubt it.

no they will not change it based on "it's not very good". There must be damage that keeps the seatbelt from operating properly in order for you to get the replacement.

well, my seat belts don't really lock into position, so they're pretty much just straps around me. does that count?

^^ it might. you'd have to check your dealer for that. my local dealership would change the belts for that reason though.
