Last night, in preparation for the Fabulous Fords Forever event at Knott’s Berry Farm today, my SIL took the Mustang down to get it washed and waxed. On the way home he was driving through a residential area when some dimwit in s Suzuki Sidekick parked on the side of the road decided, to make a U turn in front of him. She never saw him, just left the curb in a U turn that ended right up in front of the Mustang. It didn’t turn out well. The Mustang and the Suzuki were towed away, and the two passengers in the Suzuki were towed to the hospital by the paramedics. (not too hurt to try and start a fight before the deputies came though)

She just plain didn’t see the bright red Mustang in her blind spot and didn't bother turning her head. The air bags in the ‘Stang didn’t deploy so the SIL wasn’t driving that fast.

Her comment “I signaled.” (In CA the signal means “Look out I’m coming.” It has nothing to so with waiting for a clear spot).

Let’s see. Damage - Front clip totaled. Front grill totaled. Front driving lights and headlights totaled. . Hood bent and crushed, front right fender crumpled. Ft pass. wheel chipped. Probably 5000+ plus . It’s fully insured though. We’re afraid that the other car might not have been. 4 people piled out of her back seat and ran immediately after the accident, and never returned.

Her car was a 1995-6 Suzuki Sidekick. The 4 door SUV wannabe. I ran it through KBB, $1500 to $1900 max. I’ll bet it is totaled, never to menace the highways again. It has a smashed front door (he T boned her as she turned out in front of him), smashed front driver fender and the front wheel is cambered in 20 degrees and toed out about 60 degrees.

We have already reported it to the ins. co. and it gets towed to the shop Monday. They have already approved the shop I’ve used before, and they do excellent work.

Damn, that sucks even if it is a Ford. Sorry to hear that Bob. I'm assuming you have uninsured motorist coverage?

In CA the signal means “Look out I’m coming.” I like that.

Sorry to hear. The same U-turn maneuver in my part of Pennsylvania killed someone a couple of years ago. Good that yours worked out better.

Sorry to hear about the stang!!!Glad nobody was hurt bad, especialy yours!

Are you thinking saleen or cobra replacement parts??When my son (96 v6 stang) rear-ended a truck that had stopped suddently, we replaced the hood and bumper with a cobra r hood and cobra bumper. They even stuck the cobras on the fenders. Turned out better than before the accident.
