I need help. 1991 Q45My Q45 is having some starting problems, plus the check engine light is on.After spending almost a day swapping fuel rails off a parts motor, and replacing all of the vacuum hoses and fuel hoses. My car is still having trouble starting.

-Starts 1 in 10 times, or after cranking it for atleast 30 seconds

-Coughs to life when it does decided to start, throttle is needed in order to keep running

-After it stabilizes out, the idle is incredibly rough

-When in park it seems to just slightly vibrate, in drive or reverse it becomes much more violent

-Idle from the exhaust seems uneven, and sometimes pops and grumbles after letting off throttle.

-Seems to have hesitation upon accelerating, and up hill it almost died and started chugging

Please guys, Im completely stumped - I really love my car and dont want it to be a wasted investment. Taking it to infiniti didnt really help

Anything is appreciated team, I really dont know what to do.Thanks a lot,Spence

I am having alot of the same things happen with my 03 murano. plus two days ago it descided it wouldn't start so now it will be towed to find out what's wrong. it seems to want to start but just can't quite get there. I was having to give it gas for it to start but now that's not working. I am about to get rid of my car after getting this fixed. I have spent 300-500 in repairs, each month, starting in December 07. I don't want to be out any more money.the local mechanic thinks it might be a fuel pump problem or filter. they say that they've been replacing alot of fuel pump because even though prices on gas are rising, the quality is far less beneath what it should be an they are seeing evidence with all the gunk build-up.

Im so depressed, I love the Q's and dont want to have to either try to sell this one for almost no money - or have it towed because nobody will buy it

When you ground the fuel pump directly to bypass FPCU what does the idle fuel pressure read? 35 psi minimum

What is each spark plug's condition? What is MAF voltage at warm isle? 1.1-1.2 volts What does Consult say the codes are?

First, before you ever turn your car over again, have you read the timing chain guide article? Very important you understand the risks.

No maintenance history provided.

So, have you ohmed the injectors directly, or at least through the harness?

Have you measured your fuel pump's pressure after the furl filter? Ever changed that filter?

Why have you concluded it is only one "malfunction" rather than many inter related ones?

Answer us then we can get started.

Did you replace the vacuum hoses and fuel pump as recommended? If Infiniti can't help after hooking up to a Nissan Consult, how do you expect someone on the internet to know what the problem is?

I dont even think they did that, they told me it was cracked Vacuum and Fuel lines and blew me off.

Spark plugs were recently replaced, Cleaned the maf, I dont have a consult yet unfortunately (Can a consult tell you ECU codes too?), as for the fuel pressure Im not sure where to check that, it was guzzling out by its self while we were replacing the fuel hoses, when the vehicle was off? Can a kink in the fuel hose make idling rough and fine when normal driving?Dont know whether the fuel filter has been changed recently?I dont have the proper tools to ohm connections, but I was having the same problem with a whole other set of injectors and fuel rail?

Considering your age {17}, I would just sell it, get a dependable used Honda and spend your time focusing on excelling in high school and chasing girls

You will have plenty of time later in life to play with old abused cars, but the the girls will never be better than they are now-go out there and getem!!!

I'm with Qship96. Spend your time on your education and socialize a little.

Arcane things like DOHC all alloy 4 valve V8 engines are better left to old men with more money than phermones. By the time you have the means and knowledge, they will all be in museums.

As much as I love girls and despise hondas, my Q is one of my favorite cars. Ive always been around or owned a nissan at any given time, its unfortunate Im having all these weird problems with my Q :/

I honestly dont know where to start diagnosing the issue of nearly impossible to start symptoms.

As well as I dont think anyone in Calgary would want to buy a Q45 that runs rough?

Thanks,Spence

Vancity is in Calgary? Maybe you can put it to rest until you have the means to deal with it?

I was reading that some people on the forum have had a similar problem with their 240s, and where pin 34 on the ecu is some sort of ignition wiring? And that it had come loose?

Other than that, The technician that looked at it said the vacuum lines under the plenum werent connected to their respective places by the PO, however everything seemed to snug together when I was under the plenum last time.

???
