Ok guys, here we go again. In the midst of the failed attempt of trying get K-Sport Coilovers, waiting for Teins to come out with something, and Koni not following through with the Nissan Venture, I decided to take it upon myself to find a good reputable company. I asked my friend who does off road rally racing and he pointed me to a company called Hotbits . He also gave me the number for the guy in the company responsible for marketing and fitups and such. So I called him and discussed a possible group by and he is very familiar with forums as well as group buys so that's a good thing!

So I'm sure you guys want the nitty gritty and here's what it comes down to. Now please keep in mind that these prices are what he suspect they will be since he told me one of the engineers there said that the suspension setup is very close to a 350Z but needs a slight modification so the price could be lower!

Also keep in mind that these coilovers and shocks are not in the same level as K-Sport or maybe even Tein. This company makes suspensions for off-road and on-road rally cars as well as drift teams so you know these coils/shocks are going to take a beating! We'll need to get at about 20 people to do this so here's the specifics assuming that our suspension is the same as a 350Z:

From Hotbits:Quote »Non dampening adjustable basic coilover kit $1527us including shipping ( all four corners with main and helper springs, bumpstops, boots and spring seat wrenches)

Add single adjustable dampening to basic kit $244us (single adjustment (40 position) effect compression and rebound equally based on main valve)

Add double adjustable dampening to basic kit $487 (seperate adjustment for compression (30 position) and rebound (40 position) )

steel pillow ball mounts to above kits $427

A kit to use OE mounts with height adjustment would be at least $320 less, maybe more.

Top mounts are add on to the end price.

The kit to use OE mounts and springs or Eibach springs would be $320 or less as that would be the cost to remove springs from the basic kit price. Then the fronts would have OE spring seats that are height adjustable and use oe top spring seats and mounts.

This would be the kit to just increase their quality of ride and keep OE springs or a lowering spring kit.

There are 2 types of shocks. Twin tube and mono tube.

Monotube:

Larger diameter piston so you can have a more smoothly transition of the valve, which is a stack of shims. This can give you a quality ride and still have performance

Oil and gas charge are seperated by floating piston.

Twintube:

Its a tube within a tube. The inner tube is where the piston runs. So its diameter is small and which results in a steep shim stack and harshness. The harshness is adjusted by a bleed or bypass with softens the ride, but looses control of the piston.

Gas and oil are mixed. So its like putting them both in a blender. Air passing through a hydraulic valve does not work. So the harder you work it, the worse it gets. [/quote]So there you go guys, I pretty much did the legwork and now all we need is the interest. IF there is enough, I'll have LBC contact them (or vice a versa) to get everything in line for a group buy.

Warner, we haven't heard anything new with Tein hence why I posted this. How close are they to deliver some sort of product?

I got some inside info, there are some BC racing http://www.bcracing-na.com/ coil overs coming soon, like super soon. in the 1250$ price range

here are two emails from them:

Right now the Altima coilover kit is still in it's prototype stages. We are looking at having a retail ready kit within the next couple of months.Check back with us then for availability.

We should have an update on our website when they become available. bc home

BC RACING NORTH AMERICA1-321-206-6381 TEL1-800-741-1972 FAXAIM - BC RACING NA

and the second email from January 19:

We are in the final stages of testing and the newest prototype is being fitted within the next couple of weeks. So we should know something by then.

Just keep checking back, thanks for your continued interest.

BC RACING NORTH AMERICA1-321-206-6381 TEL1-800-741-1972 FAXAIM - BC RACING NA

they make top quality stuff!

Also there are some D2 coilovers http://www.d2racing.com/conten...overs that came out recently that are like the K-Sport ones meaning that they are real cheap (800$) you can order 2k softer or hard springs with them

plus the teins one coming this year (don't know when)plus some other neat stuff too ...

The ones you are talking about dangeris are kinda expensive and the cheap D2 ones have 36 wy adjustable damping and cost half the price (Street price) than the non adjustable hotbits ones.

I know its quality but wow.

Did you talk to any of your contacts there yet? Could you ask them when theyre coming out with the springs/coilovers? Man, even if they come out with just the springs ill be happy. I think someone here posted that Tein did away with theyre plans for the 08+ Altimas. Could you confirm this? TIA.

Yeah I know these are expensive and I know this community where we want quality but a good price. But keep in mind this is just an interest thread and wanted to see how many people would do this. If Tein comes out with something good than I'm all for it also. Just looking out for you guys is all.
