it will all work except the tach. you need the tach that corisponds to your engine. you can swap the tachs though, just take the 3 screws out of the back and itll fall out.

so black s13, you are just changing the tach face, nothing else. Or are you swapping out the whole tach and instruments with it.

Do you have to swap them because they have different red lines or something?

I have done this. I know the tach is electrically different, the 89 gauge won't work right with the 92 engine. Why, I do not know...

The tach signals are different. That is the reason why it won't work. Black S13 is correct.....the three screws will allow the tach to "fall out" of the cluster. The onboard chip will comprehend the signal coming from the DOHC motor. It's a super easy swap.......twenty minutes top, including removing the gauge cluster AND re-installing it.

im saying if you swap the whole cluster the speedo will not be as accurate. the dohc and sohc speedos are different. i have a dohc speedo sensor in my sr and a sohc speedo head in my cluster. it always says i am going slower than i am. also the sohc speedo head goes to 115 whereas the dohc goes to 105. i was just adding that bit of info in case you swapped the whole cluster or something. in fact im not sure the terminal arrangement is the same from sohc to dohc clusters.

I thought the speedometers were the same unit, but just the labeling was different. I looked at both the sohc and dohc speedos and the kmph marks seemed to be the same, just the mph were marked differently.

yeah... ive used both, in analog and HUD, and all 4 read right about the same. some changes, but thats expected between 14 year old parts (as in like 1 or 2 mph at 3000 rpm in fifth)

just a comment to help keep those unwanted speeding tickets away. rather a suggestion to double check with a friend driving a car they know is correct(stock wheels and tires etc.)

you can pay a nominal fee and have your speedometer actually tested. they put it on basically a dyno, but only look at the speedo, not torque.

Curiosity question.

Why are you replacing it?

its a digi speedo with hud that broke so i need a new gauge cluster, i could just buy a new speedo, but i don't want another digi i want an analogthe only plus is that i now might be able to get out of speeding tickets
