I am looking at buying a nismo jdm gauge cluster with 7 000 km on it. It is currently installed on a usdm g35.

I have a question regarding the milage reading on the cluster. I have been told that the nilage readout will not change with the new cluster, because the milage info is stored in the cars computer, then other people tell me that the milage of the cluster stays.

Does anyone know exacly?

Any help is much appreciated.

This is an interesting question! If you unplug the battery's negative terminal, then pump the brakes, the computer should lose power...but the mileage stays the same. So that would lead me to believe that there is another source where the mileage data is stored (or maybe a redundant source). So what happens if you need to replace the computer?

Any Infiniti engineers want to chime in?

Most car after 2000 came with a 2 stage registering system. Some comes with 3 stages. It registering you safety features also like your seat belt warning light and other goodies.

I had a Saab before and my gauge was broken for about 2 months. They ordered a new one and I took it in for service and whenn they replaced it it rolled automaticly to the right miles.

I just changed mine it will not keep your original miles it will stay with what ever is on the cluster. I believe the only way is to have the dealer reflash it. Which i dont they will will anywase because they'll say its not a oem product.
