First i have to say i believe this gtr is ugly, but the principle still stands.
Someone please help me understand this backwards company. More and more this company shows why its considered a budget luxury brand and why no other companies use them as comparisons in commercials. I've heard the name GTR a few times, I never really knew what the car was about. I saw one in person on the street and was underwhelmed, thinking it was just another go fast, heavy mod, tinker car, fast and furious type. Maybe with a little more umph. I decide to actually look it up now because of something I read and all I have to say is :wtf2: !!!!
I always believed the G was the best this company could do in the form of performance. So I looked at the M and simply said, it is what it is, the company can't do any better. Then BOOM, hit like a car taking off the way it should, I find out Nissan has this monster In its line up, so they are capable of making something that performs in a serious manner. Now I reflect and say, damn my parent company really doesn't care how the off brand looks or performs.
How does a company take its top of the line car and put it under the junior brand flag? Imagine Toyota taking the LFA instead of putting it to Lexus, VW taking the A7(my next car by the way) instead of putting it to Audi, or BMW putting the 6 series under the mini instead. These moves don't make sense and it seems only Nissan doesn't see it. Granted, the GTR has been around longer than infiniti, but since infiniti did this whole restructuring and branding crap, that can't be an excuse.
This thing is 545hp for $110-115k and it goes under a brand that I believe maxes at $38K!?
Mind you, the thing is marketed as a "luxury sport" but its put under the company's "standard" brand. Why wouldn't they put your top of the line car under your top of the line "luxury :wtf2: " brand? And then people wonder why infiniti is considered a budget luxury car...because it doesn't have a jaw dropping, awe inspiring model, the junior brand does. If this doesn't say it all I don't know what does. Time and time again they make moves that don't make sense. This thing could have been what the SRS is to Mercedes.
Funny side note, not even the Hyundai Equus uses infiniti in any form of comparative marketing, they don't think it's even worth it and they are new to the scene, they go straight for the big boys smh.
When will they learn? Woe is infiniti.

The Nissan GTR is a classic Nissan car though, to bring it under the Infiniti name (which doesnt even exist where these cars are made) would be heresy :p

Also, The GTR uses a very similar engine as our M's have, the lesser M's too not the V8 versions. The engine is just a newer designed and "modded out" version of our VQ's. Really the twin turbo's add the majority of the power over what our engines do. You can do the same thing to these cars if you wanted to. With my current plans I will probably be pushing closer to 800 horse power at the wheels when I am done. The NOS is being put in in another 2 months.

The Q70 (5.6L) AWD version starts at $64,500

Nissan is the main brand. I think the new gtr sits perfectly where it is. Infiniti was going to produce the essence which was slated to have a vr37 twin turbo before the 3.8 arrived. Perhaps in a few more years. In the meantime watch how they hand build each gtr engine. What's cool about this is you could accidentally buy a monster version of the gtr engine if it was built with perfect tolerances. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zta0skI9J4c

My neighbor actually has one in 'arrest-me red' metallic with black interior. The surprising thing is that even at 100mph on the motorway, you can still speak in normal volume and the car still feels like it's doing 30mph. It does 100 (it'll do way more) and it's like the engine and car are sayin 100mph? well if that's all you want, ok then, Thats a walk in the park. Here is Jezza reviewing it:

The GTR is on a whole other class, it is not in a luxury sports car market, not in "lesser brand market", but rather Nissan introduction into the SUPER CAR market. The only comparison the GTR has with Infinit is that it is made by the parent company. Not even the engine can be compared to that in the G or M. The engine from the GTR will not fit in any chassis other than the GTR. It has two drive shafts coming from the engine. The transmission and the transaxle are bolted together, which is why the car has almost a 50/50 weight distribution. One driveshaft goes to the transmission the other drivshaft goes to the AWD transfer case.
Albeit, Nissan only has one super car, but it comes in different trim levels.

The GTR is a beautiful car but I drove one on a road course and the only minus for me was the transmission. it handles like a video game, and while the Ferraris and the lambos were spinning out on the road course I just floated around at 90 -115 mph. to me a sports car has to be a stick, the automatic manual is just not for me. I still love the car but that F1 shifters on the steering wheel I did not like, maybe it would grow on me but I only had the car for 10 laps. I plan on doing it again this year with some friends and drive another exotic to compare it too. if I do get another GTR I will drive it much harder than I did the first time.
