Will stainless lines (oil/coolant) for the S14 T28's work for it? I assume so.

if your strong enough or if its loose enough lol but no seriously i mean ya it can under those two conditions..otherwise use a rag or some nice grippy gloves or a oil filter removal tool..I have a top mount oil filter setup to make it easy for myself..if you keep it in the stock position then buy a k&n filter it has a nice 1'' adaptor IIRC for an extension to get it off

Yeah if I could get a firm grip on it it would be a snap but the manifold is in the way. Hahaha first oil change since the swap.

I can get a decent grip on it but I'm far from Mr. Universe. Can I just stab a screwdriver through it and use it like a lever? I don't have another car to go borrow the removal tool. =/

No stab the the srewdriver through the filter and use the handle as an extension to turn the filter.

Wow Ryon. Who put this filter on? Oil filters are usually only supposed to be cinched down about 3/4 to 1 full turn after the gasket seats. I've never had to use an oil filter removal tool on any of the cars I've owned. I've always been able to use my hands. If you stab a screwdriver through it to get leverage for turning the filter, I'd think you'd risk damaging the filter nipple on the block bc of the pressure you'd place on by trying to stab the screwdriver in. Besides, a screwdriver isn't a punch, so don't use it that way, bc I never use a tool for anything other than what it's designed for . Anyway, just be careful if you do the punch thing with the screwdriver. I say keep working at it until you finally loosen the filter.

I just did my first oil change a few weeks ago on my SR. What I did wasget a large pair of locking pliers or vice grips and lock them on to the filter from the top and remove the filter this way (very easy no need to relocate the filter).

DO NOT PUNCH A HOLE IN THE FILTER. There isn't enough clearance for this to work (I tried and failed at this).

When you put the new filter on just use some sand paper or rag and "HAND" tighten as tight as possible.

Too late punched a hole in it. That failed pretty miserably. (Last time I listen to WD ) I stopped being ghetto and went and bought a nifty tool that hooks onto the end of a ratchet and screws the stupid thing off. 5 minutes LOL. Car still runs like crap though.

uhhmm, what's wrong with using a screwdriver for any other purpose than screwing in or out a screw? so you NEVER used anything other than its textbook purpose?? ryon, ive done the stabbing the screwdriver plenty of times on cars(not mine cuz there is no reason to tighten it to the point it would take the jaws of life to loosen it). as a matter of fact, i had to do it on the sr saturday. just my 23 cents...

I know for a fact that the T25 is blown. It sounds like sand is being poured on the turbo or something like that. I really don't care about the turbo though, the 2871r goes on when I want to have fun. My major problem is weird startup / running noises. Someone describe what knock would sound like on the SR.

Dude, there is a reason I put in the sarcastic eye rolling smiley. I have used screwdrivers and many other tools for plenty of things they were never intended for. Maybe you missed the sarcasm though. Next time I'll italicize the never as well. All I was saying is I think you risk messing the nipple up on the block doing that and that an oil filter shouldn't be so tight that you can't use your hands to get it off. Might take a little work, but it shouldn't require a makeshift breaker bar (i.e. screwdriver) to remove.

Ryon, is your car smoking?

Possibly blown oil seals in the turbo?

Most people on here are going to question why I'm talking about a blown turbo

blown turbos dont make your car run crappy it just causes a lot of smoke when you come to stop usually..knock simply sounds like knocking..check your ecu for codes..see if you get a code 34 which IIRC is the knock sensor code

Be nice to Ouiton . No smoke. I know my turbo is dead. It doesn't build boost until like 4500 now and it is weak then. Ironically these woes began after the oil change. =/

The T25 is covered in oil. So I'd say yes the oil seals are blown. But I really don't care about the turbo. Once I order my stainless lines, I'll put on the 2817r permanently. The engine noises are what concern me

Belt squeak? A belt squeak sounds like a car tire squealing. You can check the condition of your belts then make sure your belts are on as tight as they are supposed to be.

Also check your alternator and other auxilaries.
