Here are some performance numbers for the GTR in the quarter mile.11.6@120+
InsideLine wrote:We know you want the numbers and we're not going to waste your time. Neither is Nissan. Its 2009 GT-R hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, quicker than the last Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo we tested. Keep your foot pinned, and after another tap on the upshift paddle it will clear the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at more than 120 mph.

That ought be good enough to be the fastest kid on the block until Acrua releases its new NSX in 2009, with a new V10. Will that be enough to take the title from the GTR?

These are good times for car enthusiast.

what kind of crack are you smoking?!?! The NSX has always been RWD. The new one, which they have been talking about for about 5 years, is prolly gonna get a verision of their SH-AWD as seen on the RL and MDX. My money is still on the GTR although the NSX may end up being much more nimble.

It won't match the GTR for one reason---weight. V10 versus V-6. Most automakers are moving away from v-10s. Honda has some ways to go to make that V-10 as nimble as a twin turbo V-6. I have no doubt that the V-10 powerplant will lay down some serious horsepower, much higher than that of the GTR. But then, on a rce track, will all that power transfer into better handling? I feel the GTR will always be the better car. And by the way, reliability maybe a reason for having a V-10.

^^^

But the GTR already weighs over 1700kgs. The V12 Lambo's weigh less than that.

But, im comparing red apples with green ones.

V10s don't have to weigh a ton.. I mean we are not talking about a 8LT v10 like dodge loves to build..

Maybe a 4LT v10 with each piston displacing 0.5LT

From what I understand the new Lexus Supercar will have a 4 - 5 LT V10

The new NSX is totally a joke. It completely ruins my image of what the old NSX used to be.

hehehe... at .05LT it would be a half liter V10. But I know what you mean... A 5 liter V10 could easily put out 500HP too.

500hp 5.0L V10 is what BMW uses in the M5 and M6

I just looked at the pics for the new NSX and Honda/Acura should be ashamed to call that thing an NSX. It is seriously fugly. If it's going to have the performance numbers that they're claiming they need to completely start over on the looks. Somebody needs the old rochambeaux for the design. Yuck.
