Hussain I think the reality of the situation is that its not so much an age thing and yes you are right it is wrong to discriminate against age, sex, gender, etc. But it depends on the context. We are not speaking of denying this young man his rights. Rather it is a fact that driving ability only comes with experience and that experience comes with age, simple. Some will be faster and better learners than others but let this be a prime example of why insurance companies "discriminate" against young drivers. Driving is an acquired skill and it is a privilege not a right. Plus one day when we are parents as I am assuming with the cars we are driving that majority might not be (Coupe drivers), only then will we understand how some of our opinions may change regardless of their kid's age. Obviously the kid had the cash either through an inheritance or was purchased by his parents, but he was obviously way too under experienced to handle that godly of a car up that mountain; let alone at night! Perhaps he would've had a better chance suring the day as he almkst skimmed every wall on every damn turn! Nonetheless that kid has not only f***ed up his car he de-frauded the insurance company and will now pay for his mistake in legal fees, fines and possible jail time. I'm sure his driving record is utterly screwed for wreckless driving plus what insurance will insure him now? Actually, I feel sorry for the parents if the car was registered under their name to save on insurance so he was considered an "ocassional" driver. Their insurance has no doubt gone through the roof! Anyways, sorry got carried away but you get my point. Don't take this situation personal Hussain. I come from a south asian family with similar ideals as yours (I'm assuming you're middle eastern?) and my father was ready to buy me this car too but I was completely against it as my personal feeling was that I wanted to earn my first car on my own. Being independent and self sufficient is part of growing and maturing I believe and there is no better feeling than to earn things on you're own two feet. I have a younger brother and he is 21 and completely spoiled...He hasn't held a single job yet or have a dollar in his name that he can say he earned. This guy doesn't even pay his own cell phone bill! because mom and pop just want him to focus on school so they support him, sorry Baby/spoonfeed him. And subsequently he has no idea of the value of money! He has no idea what it feels like to earn your own living. I'm making a general example nothing personal towards you or saying you are the same because I don't know you. But as a general argument I'm just trying to give you insight that some "discrimination" against age has reasons. We have all been there and at no matter what age you are you sometimes tend to think you know everything but sooner or later we realize we don't jack because only through experience and countless mistakes do we learn. No one can tell you like it is unless you go through it..that is with many aspects of life - driving in this case. -end rant-
