GT-Rs are treated like hell, I remember first time I ever saw a R35 GTR it flew off a bank and crashed into a gate, looked totalled to me.... it was in the news a few days later. That's crazy to think about it, you total an 80k car within the first month of release, wtf?

These kids are just idiots, and autoblog said it right, no wonder we're paying ridiculous insurance payments just because of our age.

I dont have a problem with young people having nice cars from their parents... i'm 21 and my parents bought me my altima coupe when I was 19. but I do think this guy was stupid because he didnt know when to slow down. If you watch the vid, you see him almost crash like 4 times! but he keeps on the gas... the Evo driver was tuned and probably raced there several times. the GT-R was a noob that didnt know when to just slow down.

hey hey hey, I'm 21 lol Its not an age thing, its just a stupidity thing. I'm 21 and would have known something bad would happen if I almost crashed 4 times and continued driving it like that.

it is an age thing, but it's also a wealth thing. you're 21 and your parents bought you a car, but it wasn't a GTR - big difference. if someone gives their kid an altima vs a 100k car, you can tell who's gonna be more likely to do something stupid with it.

Hate to break it to ya man, but there's a fine line between parents being nice and parents being ridiculous. By your definition of nice, that line that connects nice to my definition of ridiculous happens to be worth about $60,000.

There's a reason why car insurance goes down at age 25 for dudes. This a$$hole in the GT-R is one of them.

well my friend is the same age as me and his parents bought him a fully loaded GL Mercedes which is like $60,000 and my other friends parents bought him a fully loaded 3 series convertible for like $50,000. I dont see a problem with people buying their kids expensive cars and who ever does is a hater.

If someones parents had money and offered to buy them a GT-R, I'd like to see 1 person on this forum that would say no, just get me an altima. come on, no one is going to refuse it. so to hate on them just means your jealous your parents couldn't have bought you a car like that.

saying that hes only 21 and can not drive is like saying all black people want to rob people and that all asians cant drive, etc. People get upset when people discriminate against other races and its the same thing as discriminating against someones age.

i get what you're trying to get at hussain, but the fact is that in general, a 21 year old kid driving around in his own GTR is likely to be wreckless with it. of course there's exceptions, but in general giving a 21 year old a super powerful sports car, not a mercedes or a bmw, is a recipe for disaster.

at the age of 21 i dont think he has that much experience behind the wheel to be doing mountain runs... if your parents get you an altima or an aston martin you need to be show some responsibility and drive with regard for yourself and others... everyone is different, some people must make their own mistakes to learn while others are able to learn from other people's mistakes... hopefully he's learned something and thankfully no one was hurt... it's been said and quoted many times... "With great power comes great responsibility"

If his parents bought him the GTR, that is beyond spoiling. They are just plain irresponsible.

Even if I had the dough, I would never buy my 21 year old a GTR. I would rather see him come home in an under-powered crappy car than to get the phone call in the middle of the night.

discrimination.... just because someone is 21 doesnt mean they dont know how to drive and will be irresponsible. making the assumption that all people of a certain age or race or gender is just ignorant.

Hussain I think the reality of the situation is that its not so much an age thing and yes you are right it is wrong to discriminate against age, sex, gender, etc. But it depends on the context. We are not speaking of denying this young man his rights. Rather it is a fact that driving ability only comes with experience and that experience comes with age, simple. Some will be faster and better learners than others but let this be a prime example of why insurance companies "discriminate" against young drivers. Driving is an acquired skill and it is a privilege not a right. Plus one day when we are parents as I am assuming with the cars we are driving that majority might not be (Coupe drivers), only then will we understand how some of our opinions may change regardless of their kid's age. Obviously the kid had the cash either through an inheritance or was purchased by his parents, but he was obviously way too under experienced to handle that godly of a car up that mountain; let alone at night! Perhaps he would've had a better chance suring the day as he almkst skimmed every wall on every damn turn! Nonetheless that kid has not only f***ed up his car he de-frauded the insurance company and will now pay for his mistake in legal fees, fines and possible jail time. I'm sure his driving record is utterly screwed for wreckless driving plus what insurance will insure him now? Actually, I feel sorry for the parents if the car was registered under their name to save on insurance so he was considered an "ocassional" driver. Their insurance has no doubt gone through the roof! Anyways, sorry got carried away but you get my point. Don't take this situation personal Hussain. I come from a south asian family with similar ideals as yours (I'm assuming you're middle eastern?) and my father was ready to buy me this car too but I was completely against it as my personal feeling was that I wanted to earn my first car on my own. Being independent and self sufficient is part of growing and maturing I believe and there is no better feeling than to earn things on you're own two feet. I have a younger brother and he is 21 and completely spoiled...He hasn't held a single job yet or have a dollar in his name that he can say he earned. This guy doesn't even pay his own cell phone bill! because mom and pop just want him to focus on school so they support him, sorry Baby/spoonfeed him. And subsequently he has no idea of the value of money! He has no idea what it feels like to earn your own living. I'm making a general example nothing personal towards you or saying you are the same because I don't know you. But as a general argument I'm just trying to give you insight that some "discrimination" against age has reasons. We have all been there and at no matter what age you are you sometimes tend to think you know everything but sooner or later we realize we don't jack because only through experience and countless mistakes do we learn. No one can tell you like it is unless you go through it..that is with many aspects of life - driving in this case. -end rant-

true. I understand what your saying and didnt take offense to any part of it. Its just that I'm like obsessed with cars (like many of us on this forum are) and like to occasionally get on the gas but at the same time, I know my limits. I've gone through the twisty roads on hwy 1 in California and when ever I could feel that the car didnt like me going at those speeds, that it was no longer safe, I let off the gas and slowed down..... I've driven around town and have seen many people OLDER then me pay less then half the attention I do to my surroundings while driving. I've avoided countless accidents almost caused by older drivers just not paying attention to their surroundings. BUT almost ever day I hear people talking about how people under 25 can't drive. I love cars and everything about cars. cars and driving are my passion and because of this, I put more effort into driving unlike most older drivers who just blindly go from point A to point B. so it just sort of irritates me when people say that people under 25 don't know how to drive.... not trying to target anyone on the forums.

Well, in this case, the lead car made the turn and he didn't. That implies an inexperienced driver. The GTR is more than capable on GMR:

http://www.insideline.com/niss....html

I actually blame this crash on the parents assuming they allowed him to have the GTR in the first place. They SHOULD know more about their son and what he is capable of. Only then should they have allowed him to have it.

In this case, he was over his head and made a dumb decision to run GMR in the dark whereas most of the experienced drivers I know usually make that run at the crack of dawn.
