Just wanted to see what fuel/tuning people are running with their GTi-R turbos, and what results you're having. I'll be doing this upgrade very soon, with fuel/tuning to follow. It's strictly a street car and my goals aren't very lofty (I'd be happy with ~270-280 at the wheels) and I thought maybe I'd be ok with N60/480ccs/AFC, but I wanted to get an idea of what other people like to run on these turbos.

Your injector size? MAF? Tuning software? Resulting numbers, and driving feel?

Etc etc?

Saw that, sent him an email a little while ago to see what sort of progress he's made since then on the tuning and whatnot I wanted to see if anyone else is running the turbo and has some experience with it.

I'd assume that it would be similar to an S15 T28 although the GTiR T28 is a bit bigger so it'd flow better up top than the T28. Based on that generalization (I hate speaking on things I have no particular knowledge on but it doesn't look like many people have experience with it) I'd personally go with an off the shelf tune from the standard Enthalpy, JWT, yadda yadda but that is because I don't like the idea of tuning my engine myself and breaking it honestly. 480's would be good for your goals as will the N60 maf. If you have a wideband and aren't afraid of a few tickets on the quest to speed lol, why not use the SAFC? I feel that in the end though, the ECU tune will be a better tune. It's my opinion that the SAFC is to correct small errors in fuel maps, not to build them from the ground up.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. I'd like to be able to get by with just an SAFC, but that would mean A) a wideband, B) doing a bunch of research on how to highway tune my car myself with the SAFC, C) a lot of trial and error with highway tuning, and D) a much higher risk of blowing something up and then spending a ton of money fixing it. Assuming that everything worked out OK and D didn't happen, I probably wouldn't save much money over an Enthalpy tune and wouldn't get quite as much power, either, since I'd have no control over ignition timing. And it would take a lot more time overall.

So putting $500 into an Enthalpy tune, tossing it in the car, making ~300WHP and forgetting about it seems like the best idea in the end. Thanks.
