I am considering buying a 96 200SX. I found a nice SE-R for a descent price. The reason that I am thinking about it is b/c I was reading an article in a magazine (Sport Compact Car, Sept. 01), and it has a sweet 200 in there with about 475 whp. It has the Gti-R engine but it says something about the AWD tranny. Is the tranny a big problem in the swap?? I know a place that deals only with Nissans and they say they can do the swap. The way it looks. If I drop my car off to them, I will be looking at about $4,000. That's the engine, the swap, gauges, everything. Sound good, or is it worth it? Also, This is my first post on these boards and am new to Nissans. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

--James

The GTi-R is AWD. You can use the engine, but you have to use your FWD tranny you already have. You can't use the GTi-R tranny at all.

I found a page on Heavy Throttle that says all I need for the swap is a motor and a modified factory ECU. Is this correct? It's actually on http://www.srswap.com, just go to engines and click on GTi-R, obviously. But anyways, what I'm really wanting to know is if this could just be like a weekend project or something?
