Would I hit a fuel cut from the MAF being maxed out if I hit any sort of boost?

don't worry, I have a z32 maf, injectors, and a tune ready almost ready to go on.. I'm getting a few other problems with the engine fixed and inspected before I do it..

Your question is very hard to understand. Do you have a current problem, or are you asking before you put the turbo on.

If you have a new MAF, injectors, and a tune, you shouldn't be boosting until you have all those installed.

What is on the engine right now? Are you driving it like this?

Yeah, I have the gt35r on the stock engine(besides built bottom end).. I need to get my car inspected so I have the stock OBDII ecu on which I can't use with the larger injectors or z32 maf.. I have a Bikirom OBD1 ecu that I will be putting on once I get the car pass inspections and emissions.. Anyways, I have been driving it around but staying out of boost.. I'm wondering if I'll get a fuel cut if the stock maf maxes out from too much flow from the turbo...

I have a 96 240sx with the ka24de...few mods:Aries pistons .020 overEagle rods660cc injectors (not installed)z32 maf (not installed)bikirom 95 obdi ecu (was installed but now removed)bunch of guages avcr safc(not hooked up fully, will be removed)apex'i avcr (also not hooked up to the wastegate yet but will begt35r turbojgs 400 wastegatehks ssqv bov (will be switched to a forge recirculating bov eventually)3 inch full exhaust with a test pipe..

The goal is around 300whp for now until I get larger injectors and a fpr..

You shouldn't be running boost at all until you get the ECU and injectors installed and tuned. The stock MAF runs into max flow problems around 250whp or so, or roughly somewhere between 7 and 10 psi depending. If you run that much boost without additional fuel you'll pop pistons long before you max out the MAF.

I suggest retarding your base timing by about 4-5 degree's just for safeties sake. That way if you do build 3-4 psi of boost you'll still be safe. Much more then 4 psi and you're seriously risking the internals. Detonation is a serious risk when you don't have the proper fuel/timing control.

I ran a FMU for a couple weeks when I was waiting on parts to come in. Was still fun and I could run 8 psi with the base timing retarded 3 degree's without worrying about the knock monster killing my motor. I'd suggest installing one of those until you get everything all sorted and installed. That way you can get it inspected and take your time getting everything done right.

Welcome to NICO btw

Why don't you make a build thread with a mod list and goals etc. We love build threads Well I do anyway, I enjoy watching projects come together. Sounds like your car will be a pretty fun machine once you get everything sorted out/inspected/tuned

Yeah I know, I'm not running any boost... I have quite an rpm range to deal without getting the turbo to spool.. I'm just wondering, if I did run any boost(>0psi) as is with this turbo, would it max out the MAF from the amount of airflow and lead to a fuel cut.. I don't plan on doing on running boost with this setup, I'm just curious...

If you dont run boost, your not going to max out your fuel system. So yea, your fine.. ? lol

The 240 doesn't have fuel cut anyway when you max out the MAF. It simply reads 5v and the ecu won't be able to add anymore fuel.

if its your daily driver it would probably be best to run n/a until you can get it tuned, just in case you have to get on it for some reason. i would just use a coupler to put the maf straight on the throttle body so you don't have to re-route sh*t

plus it would probably be easier to pass emissions, sorry you have that to worry about btw, i live in sc, we don't have any of that bs lol
