hey guys, recently this summer i fit an rb20det from a skyline gts4 into my s14. Running a custom intake manifold.. a GtR plenum fitted to the rb20 manifold, 3inch intercooler piping, ebay intercooler and a slowboyracing gt35R. Running with an n60 maf..i had lots of trouble correcting it on my super afc and i also had no oxygen sensor on the car ( didnt finish the build had to come back to america for college). The 35R i found spool up to be around 3500 rpm. Im currently in the process of gathering parts to rebuild the engine...and in my mind i want to net 500-600 wheel horse power. My question to you guys is what kind of spool up should i expect from a gt40R compared to a 35R and also do you think my hp figures are possible with the 35R? Carl H has been giving me some advice and suggest a gt3076R but im curious what you guys think.

My build this winter is going to include a GT3076R only because I think its perfect for my new setup. Its a good turbo that spools fast and still gives you that high number.

on an RB20 the GT35 is going to be a dog and honestly 600 hp on an RB20 will be tough without race gas and forged internals. The 3076 is a great turbo for the stock RB25 and will probably work well for the RB20, but the 35R is too big and laggy without other modifications like nitrous.

as far as other modifications go i do intend on fully building the 20. with forged pistons etc. the only part that has proven impossible to find are connecting rods..

Have you plotted your power goals on the compressor map for the GT35R? or 40R? I'm assuming that you'll have to be running about 30-35 psi of boost or rev the thing to 9000-10000 rpms. I don't know how well that fits on either map, so plot those and see if it is feasible. You can also check out skylinesaustralia.com and I am pretty sure they have an RB20 HP thread.

What kind of mangment do you have? for your goal your going to need a map system. Quick spool and big hp is kinda hard to do with a 2.0, might want to look into a very good exhaust manifold.
