Got the install of the GT28RS completed and have been playing with it all day. Its a pretty easy install, the Greddy 02 extension bolted on, the lines all worked, the oil return fitting does have to be modified just a bit though, but its minor. You will have to fab up something for an intake tube, and a 90 degree elbow for the hotpipe, but pretty basic and simple.

its not making full boost by 3000, but by 4000 its at around 13psi, I'm sure it'd be higher if I had the fuel and raised the boost. We've got an S581 (I think thats the number) Saleen in town, and before I wouldn't have him until the middle of 3rd, not I've got him out of first with just 3psi more than I was running before. We've also got an H22 Civic Hatch in town and from a 40mph roll, I just pulled on him, and he did the countdown and has much more experience in racing. I had him by at least 4 cars by the time we slowed up.

No real noticible sound difference, at least to me, but man, it'll roast the tires with that open differential and that makes a hell of a noise. Breaks traction when you stomp it if you're just crusing in 1st at 4000, and about the same in 2nd. After a shift from 1st to 2nd, there is ALOT of wheel spin and it wants to get squirrly in the ***.

I've now got to work on getting injectors, a MAFS, and some tuning, I want to see what this turbo will do. I'm also going to need to replace the brakes and suspension so I can handle the speed better. Guess I better find a way to sell my soul.... or my beat up honda.

There are only 2 Saleen mustangs that were mass produced (for Saleen that is)

the S351 and the S289 (not sure of the second number)

all it represents is the engine CI's that the car has...

351 is the 5.7L and the 289 is the 4.6L one..

good to hear about the new turbo....get VLSD...ASAP..hehe

S281, not 289. The 289 was the old motor from the 60's that later was stroked to be the 302.

There is an N/A S281 and a supercharged S281. The S doesn't stand for supercharged. The N/A puts out about 275 hp, the supercharged about 350, the S351 is supercharged and used to have about 485 hp.

How much boost were you running? That's pretty sweet. I was looking at the GT28, but I want more power, I want to get into the 12s on pump gas and my street Kumo 225s. I didnt think you could run any higher than stock boost on a GT28 without injectors.

I got wasted by a 89 Supercharged Mustang on Slicks/Skinnies yesterday :) Well, I was at about 3 cars back from 0-100mph. That's why I want T3/T04E. The dude acted like my car was slow even though he only got me by 3 cars on slicks, one of those carlengths was off the line. His car is like a drag car and mine is street yet mine is slow for loosing by 3 cars.. grrrrrr I live for racing domestics.

His Saleen is the NA one, its got a great suspension system, no detectible body roll and a swaybar the size of my wrist. I was running 14lbs of boost and the stock fuel system. I'm running a Hybrid power FMIC, Greddy Turbo Extension, 3" down pipe, Apexi N1, 3" test pipe. No AC but I'm still running power steering. I'm also running iridium plugs.

BTW, when I beat the Saleen, I was having fuel problems, the car was breaking up really bad, lots of pops and backfire. I traced it to a loose injector plug later that night. I haven't run him again since, but I'm guessing its gonna be a pretty bad beating.

There is an Integra with a Type R motor in town who ran a 14.1 on slicks at the track, I guess hes my next target since hes a rich kid who likes to talk trash.

I really need to work on my launch, I'm not a drag racer, and anytime I ever did it was in my old car with the Auto so it was just kind of stab the throttle and go.

I'm gonna play around like this until I can afford the fuel upgrades and tuning, but I've been kicking around the idea of pulling my NX nitrous kit from the Honda and hooking it to the Nissan with a 35 shot. I'll have to do a bit more research on this first though to see if the stock fuel system can handle it.

I drag race all the time with my VLSD and don't have any problems. If the dude is going to roadrace than that's another issue. But tha Kaaz/Cusco is a LOT more expencive.

Uhhh, a VLSD works on heat. The two disks in the VLSD create friction when they are turning at different speeds. That friction heats up silicon based goo that locks the disks together. I've never heard of anyone having problems with their VLSD other than them wearing out, which happens to all LSD's over time. A 1.5 way locks the same way a 2 way locks on the accelerator, and usually causes understeer because people usually dont bother messing around with the clutch plates to get the right amound of lock. Most people just slap it together with all plates doing work making the differential only suited for drag racing or drifting. This also makes the car suck on the street and eat rear tires.

I don't see a torque-biasing diff ever wearing out. But if you meant everything has it's end then yeah, I could see it.

Back on track! It rained here today and its the first time the new turbo has seen water. Let me tell you, its not too fun. With an open differential, 205/60/15s, and a factory suspension, forget about boost on wet roads. AS soon as boost starts to kick in, you lose the *** in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I was trying to get around a car stopped in my lane and I gave it a little bit too much throttle trying to not cut off the car in the other lane, and the tires just spun, revs shot right to the top like I was in neutral. Needless to say, I just stopped and waited instead of changing lanes.

I'm not going to dyno it until I get injectors and a MAFS and some tuning, I see no sense in wasting money. I may get a baseline before I install the fuel system upgrades just to see.

Use the dyno to tune it.
