I've been reading and was thinking about selling my gt2871 .64 ar for the fp 20g. Does anyone else have this turbo?? I saw dyno sheets of it making approximately 440hp and 420 or so torque at 25 psi!Basicly I want the badest setup before going top mount, the 20g seems to be a durable journal bearing turbo that is easily rebuildable and possibly more efficient. So if you actually have experience or know what your talking about what do you think?

I have a built redtop with 72# msd's
Jim Wolf s3's
Alky control 100% meth injection

Just some FYI, codyace made 410 whp on his 2871 .64 AR with the s3s and 50# injectors with a jimwolf rom tune.

can someone inform me of the benefits of the 20g? I'd like to go with something that isn't top mount. I like having the snail tucked away.

What's your power goal? They make a T2 version of the 3071... (Check my thread.. It's the website button under my name) John at CIP Motorsports (240sxmotoring) said it should make an easy 430whp daily driver. I'm running it with the Tomei Expreme exhaust mani

Ive thoroughly read his threads. Much I've my current setup was inspired by his. I however like making the 400 or so hp everytime I drive it. I want something that is bottom mount and will hold up to constant high boost pressures. I've heard Garrett gt28 based ballbearing turbos don't like high psi all the time. and Ive had to replace the seals in it once, yes, I do run the correct restrictor and the return line is sufficient.

How do you like the T2 gt3071 turbo? How much boost do you run and at what rpm in 2nd and 3rd do you achieve that boost? I hear its really laggy because turbine section is a restriction in the t2 form yada yada...then again it may not be any laggier than 20g.

Journal bearings apparently aren't a pain in the butt when it comes to high oil pressure. They are easily rebuildable but sacrifice some spool time.

I know that about 3 yrs ago Sam at Tiger Racing in Atlanta tuned an S14 SR on a 20g that made 381 whp & 355 lb ft on only 17psi and 440whp & 430 lb ft on 24 psi. Both runs were on race gas though. The motor was stock except for injectors, head gasket (on 24psi run only) and BC cams. Do a google search for Tiger Racing Atlanta and you'll find what I'm talking about.

I don't mean to contradict you man , and I don't have time to look at older posats at this moment but I believe when cody put down numbers it was like 420ish hp uncorrected and 330ish ftlb of torque and it was set higher than 18#'s and on race gas. I have ready I'll the sam tiger posts before I made this thread btw, I wanted to see who else used it and their take.

BTW Ive never seen a gt2871 make close to 440ft lb.then again please feel free to give me an example if I'm mistaken.

No problem with contradicting me if I'm wrong... Give me a minute and I'll update this thread on whether or not I'm wrong or not

OK, it was race gas, and it was at 19-20 psi. Also seems by the name of the dyno pic, it was uncorrected.

I would say use the 2871r and its pretty customizeable.

Yeah, when codyace put those numbers down, I forgot it was race gas, but I knew he had cams, tune, injectors, HG (like the OP and Tiger Racing did) however, he also had an extrude honed stock manifold with heat coating and had the turbo housing extrude honed.
