i've seen some good stuff as well. i got a ride in a SR coupe with a 2871 making a little over 350 whp at 18 psi or so. felt pretty nice. could feel a little extra lag but nothing untolerable. overall a nice turbo for a street setup.

anyway yes the gt28 is a good turbo for a pretty mean street car. i will warn you however......the turbo is NOT a plug and play afair....

lol dugi

i also know alot of people that dont like it they say its to small and wont produce enough power....

by the way i recived it already its sitting pretty on top of my desk only reason its not sitting pretty in my 240 is because i dont know if i should go with 550cc injectors and play with the fuel with my S-AFC or get 740's save a lil more and send my ecu out to get tuned...

i believe it was 550s, a cobra maf, jwt ecu and a safc for management. greddy fmic and 3in exhaust. it made about 350whp 350wtq on the dyno right before i got a ride for the test drive after the tune.

Was the 350 hp at 18 with the .86 or .64 variant???

I can't imagine why more people don't post the ups and downs of this turbo...I've not read anythign bad abou this thing other than cost??!

Seems to have quick spool, outa control midrange, and great power to redline...what else could be better???

i do believe it was the .86 A/R, which is probably why i noticed the extra lag. but the top end definately makes up for the increased lag. if it was my car i would definately go for the .86

this turbo is awesome for street use. mine is fully polished and jet coated. and it's sitting down there with the original mani. NO good. all shiny and i can't see it. saving up for a custom made top mount mani. then there will be some bling bling

I have a gt2871r with 60 a/r. basically no lag since its ball bearing. Its great. I have 615cc injectors, z32 maf, and 256/264 cams. Feels like around 400hp. I havent dynoed it yet. Ive had 2 supras and my first supra had around 450whp and it feels stronger than that. I love it. Like somebody said, its not a walk in the park to install. I suggest hopping on ebay and have a party ordering silicone couplers/reducers etc. Youll have to redo alot of piping. (Intake/hotpipe)

i jsut remember some guy on the zilvia boards ranting about how it was advertised as "bolt-on."

has anyone gotten this kit from phase2http://www.store.yahoo.com/pha....html

seems like a pretty good deal since you get most everything you need. just probally wanna upgrade to some s/s lines. can't think of anything else you would need

Well, it does "bolt on" bolt on sounds easy but usually never is. Its well worth it though. You can get it internally wastegated so thats a plus. A gt2871r is an awesome investment. Who cares if theres a few pipes you gotta fab. It beats the crap out of a t25 or t28....and most apexi and hks turbos for that matter. Sure, you might pay 1000-1200 for it, but its worth it. The 60 a/r is the way to go if you dont like lag and want around 400. Like I said, if you order silicone elbows and stuff, itll make it alot easier instead of trying to bend pipes.

It is said that this turo bolts up to manifold and downpipe, can any of you verify? If the hotpipe is the only problem...that actually turns out to be a blessing, I've been looking for a reason to change my heavythrottle hotpipe...it just looks retarded. I was considering the upgrade to S15 T28 but seeing as this is only a few hundred more, it has me intrigued. Is it possible to put down 400whp on this turbo or come close for that matter(with cams and intake mani of course). The general consensus seems to be that you guys like it.

Yeah it bolts up to the exhaust mani. and downpipe like factory. PERFECT. Yes 400 is possible....very possible. You can get very very close with the 60 a/r. You might can reach 400 with it.

Yea my only thing is I didnt want to ruin the daily drivability of the car(ie:excessive turbo lag) This isn't going to be my full-out car...more of a daily driven weekend warrior type. I dont really stress about quarter mile times either it just needs to feel good throughout the powerband. I may end up with the .60 a/r. The added ability to get close to 400whp is really tempting...really tempting. you guys are going to make me go broke again, but it seems that it will be well justified.

The 64 a/r makes the car feel like it came from the factory with that turbo.

and im guessing the .64 offers a swift kick in the pants as expected. Or is it more of a linear pull?

and how much longer it would take to spool?

I have talked to some very reputable people (in the turbo world) about both. I was told that the bigger gt2871r was capable of around 450-460 and the smaller one is good for 380-400. Properly tuned of course. You should get full boost by around 4200 with the .86 (maybe alittle higher). It all depends on what youre used to driving or how you want it to feel. You get a kick in the pants with both and they both pull like mad.
