Does anyone know if the 2871R will bolt up okay to the standard manifold? I already have a GT2860R installed but will be upgrading soon. Hate the cheap china manifolds and can't be assed making up a steam pipe item. Cheers

yes im running a 2871 on a stock cast iron manifold.

the only possible issue I see you having is controlling boost after 6k rpm.

let us know how it goes

Extrude Honing should resolve that. Have the turbine housing done as well and you'll have a pretty slick setup.

i could see extrude honing causing an even more efficient setup and turbine velocity soaring as a result

how much boost do you want to run mydato? Do you have cams?

That's true, but a little time with a grinder to the wastegate port should help that a lot. Make sure and do it before you have it extrude honed and as long as you're not trying to run less than 15-20psi, you should be fine.

Aim on running somewhere around 20 psi on the street and will bump it up to 25ish psi for the track. Running poncams.

You shouldn't have any problems with creep then. I think it's only an issue if you're trying to run lower boost pressures.

I question the integrity of any man who plans to run less than 25lbs of boost through his CA18.

I'm currently limited to less than 30 psi due to my 3 bar MAP sensor. From what I can find on my HKS turbo, it's good to about 27psi, which should make for a little bit of fun.

I'm thinking about picking up a big Holset turbo and getting a 4 bar MAP and getting stupid with the boost. Some of those diesel guys run like 60+psi. Crazy asses.

Which leads me on to another question, why would you not get the most ridiculous MAP sensor you can? I went with a 4-bar right off the bat so I could run as much as 44.1psi if I wanted. I could have just used the supplied 2.5 bar unit, but what fun is 22psi when you can double it?

I'm going to need to hock this 2860R soon enough, considering it a) sucks at making mad power, and b) is not a 3076R.

And considering that my engine is not going to be at all stock when it is reassembled... whenever the hell that might be. Oh to be jobless. At least I have this pimp 4wd Frontier.

It's an old HKS T4 turbo that came with my HKS cast iron top mount turbo manifold. I think it's a T04E-50 Trim. Honestly, I think the only thing HKS did to it was cast a custom turbine housing. It's only a .48 and I've never found a .48 turbine housing for a T4 turbo. I know the compressor housing is still garrett, but it might have a custom compressor wheel, but I doubt it.

you stupid 'sumb**** 2.5 bar = 36psi 4 bar = 58psi

your "i was drunk when I posted that" excuse isnt going to cut it this time

the extra money you spent on the 4 bar unit could have went towards something way better

Yes Greg, while that may be true you are overlooking the fact that you lose 1 bar for atmospheric pressure when you run a MAP sensor. A 1 bar map sensor would be what you would use for a naturally aspirated car, because it goes from zero to 14.7psi (vacuum to atmospheric pressure). For pressures over atmospheric (i.e. forced induction) you are going 14.7+ (1 psi for each lb of boost you run). If you have (like me) a 4 bar map sensor, you get 14.7 x 4 - 14.7, to compensate for atmospheric pressure. Your math would be correct if we were in a vacuum. 14.7 x 3 = 44.1psi. Idiot.

Also, my map sensor cost me $40. I can't even buy an eighth of weed for that.
