There is argument about the current state of Garrett turbo's but for the most part, a GT2871R is going to be 100% dead-on reliable for the life of the engine.

What do you need to run a GT2871r? Not very much. But to make life easy...

Flange Adapter Kit - I like DiF because of the o-rings, you will save in the long-run with gaskets.

Basically a formal disgruntled employee says that Garrett is more concerned with profits then qualaity, and that the turbo's being assembled in Mexico means greaater failure rate.

Borg Warner was supposed to come out with T2 internally gated turbo's designed to compete against the 2871r and similar IHI turbos, that was suppose to happen last year. Last I heard, they are going to announce them at SEMA or PRI this year.

I still haven't heard anything about Garrett turbos failing. I guess we'll soon see.
