gt2871 boost problem

I installed my gt2871 .64 on my redtop and forgot to install the gasket inbetween turbo and manifold, I drove on it for a week until I had time to take it back apart, when I finally replaced the gasket I take it for a test drive the car whistles very loud starting at about 12 psi as if the turbo was going bad, or is this normal for this turbo to make that noise. Mods are in my sig.
