It seems that not many people on Nico have this turbo compared to FA. At least thats what the search function (new search system sucks azz) is saying. Well I just had a few questions about this from the few of you guys that might be running this turbo1. Does it bolt on without modification? 2. What kinda qtr mile times does this turbo produce?3. Is it noticeably laggy? (either trim)I think thats all I can come up with for the moment. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it bolts on without modification. You'll have to bend water and oil lines though or get the taka ss lines. You'll also have to get new intake piping (intake is larger) or a reducer (makes more sense to just make new piping). I'm not sure how the hotpipe lines up, but chances are you'll have to make something for that as well. But as far as the big stuff goes (manifold and downpipe), it does bolt up. Your 1/4 mile times will depend on your setup and tune. With the right supporting mods and tune, 360whp can be attained with the .64 a/r GT2871r. You'd be deep into the 11's with that power level. With a .86 a/r and the same supporting mods, you're looking at close to 400whp which can get you very close to 10's. Lag is best left judged by the driver. I can pretty much promise you that no other turbo on the market will get you 360whp and spool as fast as the .64 a/r GT2871r. The .86 a/r will be noticeably laggier than the .64...it may be worth it to look into a different turbo if you're considering the .86 a/r. Maybe the GT3071r?

you need good tuning (enthalpy), cams and intake to make ~370whp on .64 gt2871r. you can make slightly more with .86 trim.

power doesn't come with .86 trim until top of 2nd. not sure when .64 trim kicks in but its just slightly longer than stock, few hundred rpms.

if you are wanting to go with .86 trim consider the gt3071r, same spoolup with .64 trim but supports up to 490whp i believe.

260whp for the .64 a/r (that's with 264* cams, greddy intake mani, 1.1mm hg, enthalpy tune).

Closer to 280-290 whp w/ .86 a/r. Full boost should come on at around 4400rpm iirc.

GT3071r w/ .64 will give over 400, but not close to 500whp. .86a/r on the other hand comes w/ a larger compressor and different trims...it should take an sr closer to 500whp, but full boost wouldn't be seen until closer to 5K.

hmmmm, not enough of a turbo guru to say thats false but i am a little skeptical. it looks like it should be a nice middle of the road upgrade. not a minor thing like a straight t28 but not super huge like a t3/to4s big trim. just to clear up a few things, .64 adn .86 are the a/r ratios not the trims and its a gt2871r not a gt2817r. those are really not a big deal as its pretty clear what was meant but could lead to some confusion possibly.

Yeah, I meant GT2871R. Turbo classification can be confusing sometimes. Thats what I mainly wanted to hear. I just wanted to make sure the turbo was bolt-on - for the most part atleast. s13sr20chris, are you on Dragva.com? Theres a member that resembles your name.

I'm mainly looking for a solid and reliable 350rwhp. Probably mid 11.5's with supporting upgrades. I want a turbo that I wont grow out of (speed wise). I want this to be my last turbo upgrade.

don't you mean 360whp, 380-390whp, and 500whp???????????

you're a 100whp off man. no gt2871r will put out 260whp unless it's not running any boost. im putting out almost that number with the stock turbo.

maybe you're tired or something...

I'm running the GT28RS in .86 which shares the same housings as the Gt2871 and I can tell you for a fact that power comes on at 4800 in EVERY GEAR, not just 2nd. With no lsd and an all season tire, my 2nd gear is almost useless since I break traction going into it and redline almost instantly forcing me into 3rd to keep on going. The cloud of smoke is kinda funny when I do it.

I would LOVE to have it spool 1000RPM sooner, but I don't know if its worth the trade off in power, besides, once boost kicks in during a race, it doesn't fall off until I stop racing so that 1000RPM doesn't matter too much to me.

Not really, it's a waste. Either muscle or Honda guys, and all of them with the maturity of a 14 year old. The few 240 guys are mostly ex-honda kids hoppin' on the silvia bandwagon. Occasionally the classifieds came in handy for me though.

Check out these dyno charts. But it's on a 1.8L.

GT2871R vs. GT3031R and GT28RS vs. GT3031R(.64)http://www.atpturbo.com/root/r...r.htm

Another GT3071R on 1.8Lhttp://www.atpturbo.com/root/r...4.htm

3071R makes 400 lb-ft at 4500 rpm on a 1.8L! Awesome turbo. Check out the power curve.

I was tired when I posted that.

You're right...everything I said, add 100 to it (except for the 500).
