My T25 is pretty much dead, it doesn't maintain boost, takes forever to spool, and won't boost past about 10lbs peak. I'm blowing oil smoke everytime I let off the throttle and get back on it and at stopsigns and traffic lights I'm suffocating the people behind me. After riding in an S14 SR power car last night, I realized that its time for me to upgrade my turbo. I've decided on the Garrett GT25R in .86 A/R trim due to its almost complete bolt in ability, and the future power potential.

My question is, how hard is this turbo to install with the motor already in the car? I know its quite a bit larger than the stock turbo and I've been told that you have to grind a bit off the turbo to make it fit, but with the engine in the car, how hard is this to do? Is it best to pull the manifold then install it, or is it better to just try to get the turbo itself off? I know its kinda cramped on that side of the bay, hell its cramped on both sides, so what is the easiest way to attack this bad boy?

Also, what reliable source seems to have the best price on these and also has them in stock? I've got just about $2000 to spend on my turbo upgrade, and I'm trying to make it go far enough to get the turbo, couplers and T bolt clamps, bigger injectors, a new MAFS, and an SAFC if I can. By the time I get the turbo installed and all the other parts sourced, I might have enough spare money to just get it Rom tuned instead of the SAFC.

i'd imagine if you were to put your car on some tall jack stands, then maybe you could just unbolt it at the turbo outlet (elbow) and the manifold and pull it all out at once...(saying you had all the related piping disconnected....another thing you might do is look for a used turbo, but make sure it's local so you can chcek it out first...cuz that price range is cutting it close

550 for the injectorsSAFC is about 350-400...i mean that's almost 1000 already...the turbo will cost you around 1200 IIRC

Your best bet would definately be to pull the motor right out. For the couple hours it takes you to remove the motor you'll waste that trying to work on it inside the car.

I'd recommend shaving down the motor mount bracket rather than the compressor on the turbo.

Also atpturbo stocks them for under 1100.

Don't pull the motor, just the exhaust manifold. You can do the whole job in about 6 hrs from start to finish.
