A friend of mine told me of a former 3000GT owner in here. If that guy was still here, I would like your opinion on the 3000GT. It obviously has more horse and is much faster than the U.S. 240SX, but in all, are '95+ 3000GT a lot better (as in handling, comfort, etc.) than the 240? Or anyone else can reply.

If my ricer-a.ss is not mistaken, that would be Redrocket. I drove a VR4 in the rain this summer and it was very quick and had grip like crazy. Sweet cars, but I hope you have $$$ to buy and maintain.

240's are much simpler cars, but won't run with a VR4 unless highly modded and not in the rain. I don't even pay attention to the n/a models.

N/A 3000GT's are too heavy for their power, handling is alittle sluggish, and aren't they FWD?

the VR4's are fast, wonderful cars. However, the transmission's are extremely weak and tear out quickly. They're also EXTREMELY expensive to repair/replace. and Redrocket had a TT stealth AWD, the same car basically. I believe he spent like $8,000 on transmission work alone.

3000gts are AWD and VERY costly to maintain. They can be very quick however.

Since I'm on a budget and only have one car however, I'd have to say the 240 is better (not because of performance, but overall).

Why do people always beat on the 3000GTs. Those are great cars both in appearance and performance. I have the NA and it runs great, except for that damn lifter tick. I got a really good deal on ut and i can't afford the VR4. The car is comfortable and the handling, you have to experience it to understand. There's nothing like not having to think about your speed when entering curves. But i have to warn you, if you buy that car you either better have a beater or have some back up money coz when something goes wrong you can't just run to the junkyard and the dealeship will anally rap you. Performance wise, it is a little heavy but the Sl ( and base model i think up to about 95 or 97 when i think they put an SOHC in the base model) comes with 222hp. That's not so bad and i had absolutely no complaints about its performance except for the whole FWD thing.

DAmn i don't even remember what i just typed

By the way don't mess with the VR4s especially if they are modded

I never insulted the car, it's a great car. When I drove one, the handling felt slightly sluggish to me. I like to have quick, responsive control with little body roll.

And yes, the VR4's are hellasiously ba. I would just feel uneasy driving one for fear of the transmission giving out, especially with the way I drive.

damn it sounds like the transmissions suck on those. How would shifting slow make a difference, I wouldnt think it would matter as long as you shift good.

obviously shift slow so you don't fukk up your synchros. you fukk up your synchros, then you fukk up your transmission. it's not worth replacing synchros, so you might as well get a new transmission. it can cost 6000 to get new trannsmission in 3000gt, so actually you might as well just get a whole new car.

might as well. by the time you actually get a 3000gt, ruin the transmission, and are ready for a new one, they'll probably be worth 6000-7000.
