I would be carefull about accepting this answer however it may well be true.
Many auto insurance policies will not cover break ins on your property (note in some cases would cover it on the street). Coverage often is limited for property if the car was moving. Some will only cover auto parts damaged such as the bumper and not personal property such as the camera. Some will not cover aftermarket parts such as the subs but would cover OEM parts such as an OEM head unit. If the aftermarket is a replacement for an OEM and has a higher value then some companies will pay the OEM replacement value. Some of these policies will cover aftermarket but only if they are aware of their existance first and possible with a higher premium. In the case of renters insurance you can run into the same sort of exclusions/limitations.
I would suggest maybe going to a 3rd party for possible interpretation and some of this may well depend on which state you are in. You may need to get your renter's insurance policy for interpretation as well. It is possible that this will end up coordinated between the two.
I wish you luck in coming out whole with this and also hope the scum suckers get theirs as well.
