Nissan's Marketing Team is on the Hunt for No-Fear Startups to Extend Marketing Reach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nissan Motor Company has put together its first-ever Marketing Innovation Lab. You could liken the team in charge to the judges on the popular ABC network show Shark Tank.

Together Nissan's three Marketing Innovation Lab staffers have years of ad agency, direct marketing and technology experience.

The first startup company picked up by the Nissan's Innovation Lab is Stadium Stock Exchange (SSE). At SSE, they have a mobile app and website that allows sport enthusiasts to play college-level fantasy football.

Sometimes I wonder if they have any idea how to reach out to the car-buying public, or if they're just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

"Startups" have an 80% failure rate. Just sayin'.

As with the Murano cabriolet, I think they're throwing stuff at a wall and hoping something sticks.

I think Nissan's unique roadblock with this approach is that they still haven't figured out how to TELL what sticks.

I've MET their Communications and PR people... they're sharp. They're talented. And they're genuinely nice people... It makes me wonder why Corporate doesn't entrust them to handle some of this stuff.

Appears the mothership's senior management feel their fatter paychecks means they know more than their own experts. Sounds a bit like pre-bailout GM.
