I have a 2010 ST AWD with 3000Km and get intermittent brief growling sounds in low speed accelerating turns. The sound is brief and is a sort of low frequency rubbing sound. It does not always come from the same place. My first impression was it had something to do with the AWD switching to 2WD or the stability control.
I have done 2 test drives with mechanics from the dealer and of course it wouldn't make the noise.
They put the latest firmware on the cvt and that seems to have reduced the number of occurences. For example I used to be able to make it happen every time on a wide sweeping left turn on to the right lane on a 4 lane road from a shopping centre parking lot especially when the car had been sitting in the sun. It is not that predictable now.
Any thoughts

There was a Technical Service Bulletin from Nissan regarding noises from the AWD system. Has your dealer check for this?

NTB10029 - SB Murano/Rogue; Grinding/Knocking Noise From Rear When Turning

IF YOU CONFIRM There is a grinding or knocking noise or vibration from the rear of the vehicle: - when making wide turns - on dry roads - at low speeds (under 20 MPH). ACTION Remove the Rear Propeller Shaft and test drive the vehicle: If the noise/vibration DOES NOT stop: This bulletin DOES NOT APPLY. Refer to ASIST for further diagnostic assistance. If the noise/vibration DOES stop: Replace the Electrical Coupling Assy. (CPLG ASSY-ELEC) with the one from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Refer to the appropriate section in the Electronic Service Manual for removal and installation. DO NOT replace the entire Rear Final Drive assembly for this incident, if it should occur.

Another thought:

Several Rogue owners have complained of metallic scraping noises at low speeds including myself. The problem seems to be caused by the splash shields located behind the brake rotors. They deform with heat and age and contact the brake rotor. They are fixed by simply bending them back slightly.
