Alright, so here is the deal. I just got off the phone with Clark Steppler. In case you're not familiar he's one of the big-wigs at Jim Wolf Technology, one of the premier Nissan Tuners in the US. The reason that I was talking to him was that I just became privy to the information that, with some minor changes, the RWD SR20DET flywheel WILL work on our little CA. If you don't believe me, pleace check out knightrider's post HERE. I have all of the information that we need to make this work. It's pretty simple really. Plus with this flywheel we can use either a RWD SR20DET clutch or a Z32 clutch.

Here is exactly what has to be done to make the RWD SR20DET flywheel work;-Purchase a new starter. You will need a HITACHI unit from an S12 with a CA20. It HAS to be the gear reduction style unit. -Depending on which style clutch you get, you may have to slightly grind the outside of the pressure plate down so that it doesn't hit the bell housing.

AFAIK that's it. I've included a pic of what the flywheel would look like. This is GREAT quality flywheel. These use a replaceable contact surface so you'll never have to have the flywheel surface milled. I think they only weigh 11 lbs too!

As for price it's going to depend on how much intrest I recieve in this deal. I think with some haggling and enough intrest I can get these for you guys at $300-$350. If you're intrested, please email me HERE.

hehe, i was wondering why clark was asking me what i had to do to get that flywheel in there. just a little info for ya guys, that picture is not the acual picture of the sr20det RWD flywheel, but it looks very similar(note the 6 hole pattern), also the starter has to be the gear reduction style that doesnt have the hood covering the pinion gear, as this is what is in the way. also if you opt to get a 250mm disk, aka, a 300zx Twin turbo clutch, you will need to grind a little on the bellhousing, where the 2 bumps are where the dowels are located at 3 and 9 oclock on the bellhousing. i really should have taken pictures, of how much i had to grind and all, but i didnt really think about it. i willl take some pictures of the actual flywheel, disks and presure plates that are availiable from JWT also i will include pictures with a stock CA flywheel, also if i feel like being nice ill take a couple pictures of the starter, so all you guys know what im talking about. btw, the starter is best had at the junkyard for 25$ instead of the 225$ that the dealer wants, also it takes a week if your lucky. so gimme a day, and ill have the pictures up before JGTC,

Thanks Knightrider! And yea, I'm the reason he was asking all the questions. These are actually totally unrelated. I had emailed Fidanza about making a flywheel and they told me to get a hold of Mr. Steppler and gave me his #. Then he started talking about how "One of his employee's" had done this and it worked great. Little did I know it was you!

I'm just waiting for 5 people. Right now it's float_6969fantaLoofee95SE

We need another 2 people and then we're ready to roll.

Update: I found the part # for the starter that you'll need to purchase. It is a Hitachi Gear-Reduction starter. The Part # is 16803. It can be purchased at your local Advance Auto store for $98.88 + $25 core. I can get them cheaper than this if nessicary.

I definately want a lightened flywheel but can't afford it anytime soon, esp. since that means a new clutch..

But man, it takes so long to get from ~7000 RPM to ~4000 RPM so I can upshift The KA could get between gears faster.. it only had a UDP as far as spinning mass reduction goes

The CA still spanks the KA though, even if I am going driving miss daisy between gears :P

they are basically the same flywheel, but the JWT Flywheel is also drilled for the Z Pressure plates, so you have a whole lot more clutch options with the JWT flywheel than just the one from Fidanza.

As far as price, that is basically the same price that I'm going to get them to you guys for. It basically depends on how many people I can get in on this. The greater the quantity, the lower the price. Although I don't have a definate #, I can tell you that you wouldn't be paying more than $350 shipped with the Group Buy and you'll be getting a little better flywheel IMO...

PLEASE do! There is only three of us right now. We need at least 5 and I'd like to have more. Like I said before, the more we get on board, the cheaper they'll be.

i talked to the guys from http://importfanatix.com, he said if you would like to post this on his site its cool, but he would like you to do it yourself instead of me linking here.

its a real good sight, filled with a lot of ny,nj,ct 240sx and other car owners.

I also believe that I can get them for better than what I previously thought. Although I don't have an exact price yet as I still don't have enough, I'm thinking that the price will be much closer to the $300 mark.

Well the prices aren't as good as I had hoped.

At 5 units, they will be $340 each

At 10 units, they will be $325 each

Since you can get SR20DET lightweight flywheels for closer to the $325 price, or lower, I don't see much point in persuing the Group Buy.

Regardless, we now know that any RWD SR flywheel can be made to work, so that is a bonus anyway. Thanks for the input guys and I'm sorry I couldn't work out a better price for you.
