Ok, so when my friend first installed my amps he grounded to the rear seat belt bolt (rear right retractable belt one). And it worked good for about 5 months I think. Then one of my ground wires connected to the amp itself came loose, probably not enough slack when I had to slam the brakes this one time. So that came off and no more music.
After I disconnected the negative on the battery, then hooking the power wire back into the amp, I reconnected the negative on the battery. Turn the key, and nothing happens. Now the main fuse holder, next to the battery comes off. The little screw came off and the wire came apart from the fuse. Then got a new fuse holder because I couldn't find a replacement screw for the fuse holder. Hooked that thing up, and everything else, turned the key. And again, amps didn't turn on.
So then I whip out the test light. Power works, remote works, but not the ground. So I proceeded and checked the ground wire connected to the bolt, looked the same as the day it was put there. The bolt wasn't loose or anything. Took the test light to the bolt, and it didn't light.
So ok, somehow that area isn't good to ground it anymore. No problem, just move the ground to next seat belt bolt, which i tested with the test light to make sure it would work. Disconnected the battery, moved the ground, reconnected it, turned the key, AND NOTHING. Whip out the test light again and check it, no light. The ground wire is placed directly in between the metal bolt ad the metal washer. I don't understand how could a ground go bad.
So I had to move it again, now to the third availible seat belt bolt. And it FINALLY WORKS.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. In short, how could you make a ground go bad. (such a simple question and yet such a long post, sorry again)
