I'm going to start making some grounding kits and I'd like everybody's opinion as to which color they like most/would choose.

Terminals will be gold plated or copper (buyers choice).

I'm thinking about two basic kits. One for show and function, the other mainly for function (meaning it's inconspicuous, NOT ugly).

Here is a generic grounding kit (mine won't look like this) and I did some quick and dirty photoshopping for colors.

Graphite

Blue

Green

Purple

Clear/Silver

Red

Hey Nate... I already have a kit on my car, but for others who might be interested, the mounting block you are using doesn't allow for re-installation of the engine cover, does it?

What gauge wire are you using?

Great color choices BTW.

Actually, I intend on building the kit so the cover can be used. This was just a picture that I borrowed for comparison.

The one I intend to build for myself will actually be more inconspicuous and won't waste so much wire.

I really like visual mods, but I've decided that this car will be more about efficiency (power, fuel and weight) than visual effects.

Well since my car is red I went with red since the engine bay is red and red wires made sense to go with red. With all of those reds is my vote for red, no, but to me it depends on the color of the car/engine bay. Definitely not green or purple.

I was wondering on expansion kits for existing grounding kits. I have the stillen kit installed. The grounding kit like grounding gear has uses more wires. Wonder if you could just add the couple wires.

Clear/silver or graphite. Copper connections.

What gauge wire are you thinking of using?

I could see that one member with the G37 with green calipers liking the green. I like it a lot, just not for my car.

I'd be happy to put one together for you. Just email me what you've got with a picture and I can "fix" the loose ends.

I'm using 4 gauge wire. The stillen uses 8 gauge IIRC and the grounding gear uses 4. The stock grounds are like a 10 or 12.

It will. Don't worry Joe. I like the engine cover too....I still need to put mine back on though

i was wondering about that myself... but i figured stillen knows what they're doing when they opted for 2 less wires...

Like I mentioned to teflon, I'd be happy to provide you with additional wires or even replacements if the Stilllen grounds aren't large enough.

The gauge seems fine. I'll just take a pic and send it. I'll try and get that taken care of tomorrow.

Yes I'd def love some green wires I like both the green and purple b/c they are different and not colors other companies offer. I'd put either on my car.

Hey! that's my engine bay!!! lol, nice PS work Sentient, I think I actually posted why I bought the cheap red kit, because it matched the orange and red on my fujita intake...

Sentient: (1+)

I personally think you could get the best sales with the graphite / silver sets.... as they will blend well with any mods / stock components

Nate, did you mention a ballpark price yet????Was thinking about the Stillen, but would rather support a Nico brother.

I haven't leaked a price out yet.

I'm going to estimate high and probably give everyone a discount once I have bulk material costs and exact specs.

$110 (8-wire) + shipping (lowest available to you)

Benefits over Stillen:

Larger Copper WiresMore grounding pointsBetter Color OptionsCustomization

Here's a picture of one of the wires I made for my wife's celica next to the stock ground (battery terminal!!!).

Sentientbydesign,

The grounding wire you made looks great.

I agree with most about the colors. I would only by the red or blue if it matched my car. Go with the graphite or silver.

I also want to interject on the connector option. Gold-plated connectors are great for certain applications, but they won't yield anything in this one over copper. Gold-plated connectors are great for apps where signal quality is key, such as home theater equipment. All of those cables, although they are gold-plated, are copper at their core. The gold just helps shield from the loss in quality due to oxidation. Copper is a great conductor and transfers signal with minimal loss, but signal quality isn't what one is looking for in a grounding kit, it is better conductivity, and with better conductivity and the thicker gauge wire comes better quality signal transfer.

Just some food for thought for not only people thinking about buying, but for Nate as well for a business perspective in terms of costs. Hope it made sense.

Huh? You don't want to hook up the ECU? Why? Worried about frying it? I have a solution. Email me for info.

I'm still around, I just don't have much time to post.

New baby boy, work, and moving to a new house are taking up too much time.

If there's a topic on here that somebody wants my input on or a grounding kit question, my email is the best way to get a hold of me.

BLUE man BLUE!! Did you start putting a common terminal into your kit or are the pics just to show the colors? I need to order the overkill 5AT kit in blue with copper terminals when you get up and ready. Just let me know. Please

Those WERE just color options.

Right now, I have blue, red, and gunmetal as color choices. The other colors were way too expensive.
