I have heard some guys ground the MAF directly to the chassis when attempting to get rid of some electrical gremlins. My question is would I just cut the ground wire it has now at the plug and run it to a good ground? Doesn't the ground run back to the ECU and wouldn't it "freak out" if it no longer had it?

Are you talking about the 300zx mafs or the sr maf. On my 300zx maf sensor I had it grounded to my chassis and my maf would sometimes make my car sputter or hard to start, so I grounded it directly to the neg. terminal on the batt. and it works great now.-Jon

I was talking about the stock MAF but would it make a difference?

Don''t do it, you will mess something up. That ground is a 'sensor' ground that runs back to the ecu.
