I have the stillen kit and it doesn't have all of the wires that the grounding gear kit has so I am going to fab some of my own (roommate is an electrical engineer). Can someone scan the instruction sheet in?

This picture is from Chad1200. I didnt want to go out to my car and take a picture so i stole this. Either way, mine is the same with the difference being that I have my ECU/TCU grounded also (which i grounded per instruction to the spot in the picture with 1,2,3 wires).

The wires have been designated NUMBERS only so that you can see the corresponding connections. These numbers could differ from the instructions on the GroundingGear set as I dont have mine anymore.

Hope this helps!!

It looks similar to the stillen kit but the stillen doesn't go to the ECU, TCU or the transmission and am I guessing those three are the most important... If you can't take a picture, can you give a brief description of where they hook up?

what do you mean?

the #7 wire, which connects on the back of the plenum on the left side, drops straight down. If you jack your car up enough to get under it, you'll see where the wire is. There is a bolt that holds wires to the transmission, that is where I grounded mine. The only thing special was that it is essential to make sure this is away from moving and very hot parts. A few simple wire ties took care of that.

As for the TCU and ECU.

TCU and ECU are connected with a wire. There is another wire going from the ECU up to either the negative on the battery or the 1,2,3 ground as mention in the picture.

To get the wire in there you will need to remove the kick plates on the passenger side and the whole battery cover facia. You can drop the wire directly through the firewall the same route that all the factory wires go, which is the rubber boot.

Still need more?

That should do. If I get lost while under the hood, I will let you know. Thanks for the help!

John,One more question before I rip everything apart. Are the ground points on the ECU and TCU easy to find? The one on the transmission sounds easy to find but are the grounds on the ECU and TCO easy to distinguish?

Thanks again,Aaron

Ya, they are pretty straight forward. You really dont have to tear into anything at all really. You are just unscrewing a few bolts, putting a wire or 2 or 5 and then you tighten it back down.

With the ECU/TCU, you only have to pull off the kick plate under the glove box, it will snap out. And the kick panel to the right of that, has one plastic nut then will pull out from right to left. The door kick trim, that just pulls off as well. And last, the glove box, 4 screws up top, and one on the bottom left i believe, maybe another on the bottom right. Thats it.

Take pics when you get to them if you have issues, and i'll point ya in the right direction.

More importantly, my car is on jack stands and I can't find the transmission ground point!!! Am I looking in the right spot? (this is passenger side)

Not to be off topic, but what is better?

The stillen grounding kit or the grounding gear kit?

What are the Pro/Cons of each kit?

I was researching grounding kits last night on the forums and found people talking about the Nismo, Stillen as well as the grounding gear.

Last minute i found grouding gear and could not find much info on it.

Groundinggear.com operates from Canada and they do not have an online purchase capability. You should be able to e-mail them from the address they list on the first page of the site. Sales, support, and customer service are just a click away.

Hope this helps.
