We have a problem with our track car that we think may be related to lack of grounding. We realized that when we replaced the engine recently we only had to disconnect 2 grounds. One was on the head from the harness that goes to the dist. and the other was attached to one of the Oil Pump mounting bolts. That one we moved to the intake manifold.
So now we have a cable going from the negitive terminal of the battery to the body where the coolent tank used to be, and the other goes to the intake manifold. We did pick up a ground wire from the junkyard the other day that was mounted at the drivers rear of the head and went to the body at the firewall. that will soon be installed.
I have plenty of 1/2" wide braided grounding strap available along with connectors. Where else should I run grounds? I was thinking from a motor mount (block side) to the body/frame.
BTW this is a stripped down full time dirt track car. the dash/lights etc have all been removed and we are presently running the standard mechanical fan.
Advice?
