Been doing alot of reading on other sites about the grounding kits that are available from Nismo.

All the threads I read say that the following is what they exeprience

Faster startsSmoother idlesmoother revsbetter MPG ~2mpg

Wondering if anyone has experience with this mod

yea seems like a lot of people been talking about this mod.

funny thing its not only just on the 350Z or the G35 i heard some guys with Matrix and hondas got the same result. so could be something worth getting.

personally, i would make my own. most of these kits are universal and might have not long enough wires or too long, so i'm gonna look into making one of my own.

If either one of you do it, let us all know how it works out.

Just to let everyone know, - the grounding kits do work, - but do not make a huge difference as to HP or anything like that.

I bought a HyperGround kit and had it installed by Infiniti dealer here in Edmonton about 3 weeks ago. Mostly I have noticed 3 things, -1) better idling and seems like faster reving.2) noticeably quicker shifts when tranny in D, and snappier when in manumatic mode.3) better FM radio reception.

I don't think it has added any HP although with the faster shifts it feels a small amount faster.

Just thought you'd like to know. By the way, if you're buying a kit, get the 7 wire one that includes the wire to the tranny. Its more work to install but yields the most benefit.

I'm a 350Z owner and I make and sell grounding kits for 350Z's and G35's. Everyone has been pleased with the results. I sell them on Ebay and have over 130 feedbacks 100% positive. I'm an individual not a big company and I do this out of my garage so I'm not trying to turn this into a business and make a ton of money.

Before I started selling them I made my own and went to a dyno day to test it out. It did make a small improvement in horsepower and smoothed out the RPMs.

You can make your own following the directions from any number of 350Z forums. I appreciate forum members and sell 5 wire kits direct for $48 including shipping (continental USA).

If you would like more information you can email me at [email protected].

They are primarily aimed at newer cars with electronic computer controls and electronic ignition.

On a 240Z you can probably get more improvement by adding a better ignition system first. Upgrading to electronic ignition with a capacitive discharge system would be a first step.

the biggest thing they do is speed up communication between various sensors and the ECU/TCU by eliminating electrical noise on the circuit. Since 240's don't have a LAN in the car, I don't know if it will make a difference.

I made my own from 4 gauge wire (I used 6 wires since I don't have a AT) and standard copper connectors.

I noticed the same things as stated above. You turn the key for a just a touch and boom you're running.

This thread at G35Driver is huge: Hyperground thread but has turned out to be one of the best sources of information on the web regarding these kits. Gordgee there makes kits for the G's. z327's price is better and he has a great rep on the 350 boards.

I have heard good things. This and the intake are one of the first things I plan to do, once I get a little extra cash to spend. Hopefully I can start this spring.

so where are the recommended grounding points for kits like these? I'm assuming one or two to the block, one to the alternator, and one to the tranny. Anywhere else that would be of importance for the grounding kit?

Over X-mas vacation I will be installing Dual CatBacks from AZHitman that I ordered yesterday. It has been suggested to replace the stock G35 intake with the stock 350z intake. I will be doing that and putting the grounding kit on. I will definitely let you know how it all works out. We will probably do the exhaust one day and the intake. I might wait to do the grounding just to see how the much has changed without it. I can hardly stand the waiting.:blue

Ground points on the 350Z & G35 are on the intake/block (4), fenders and battery.

Wonder if this has an application for pre-OBDII cars (1995 Q)?

I'm curious, especially after talking with GeeThreeFive about it and reading this thread.

Any thoughts?

After going to Nissan about the 350z intake looks like that really isn't the answer. Seems that the Injen intake is the one that I will be ordering. Hope my exhaust is here first though. Hint Hint AZ.

Well I got the grounding kit on last night. Honestly I probably wouldn't even know it was done. My car is new, so it starts quick already, it idles smooth and shifts smooth. The FM channels don't come in any better. I probably could convince myself it is doing all these great things and not be so negative.Perhaps with an older car it may seem more noticeable.

Mine seemed noticeable right away. Did you clean your grounding points good? such as the one on the fender/chassis point? There was paint there so I ground it off. Same for all my intake manifold grounding points. There was some minor discoloration due to oxidation there. Remember all electrical connectors must be clean and shiny to work well as well.

I guess it was just so good before it's hard to tell the difference.
