I just recieved my ground kit for my 3rd gen maxima(1991) and there is 6 grounding points where i must connect.

1-Intake Manifold2-Engine Block3-Head Lamp4-Cylinder Head5-Alternator6-Transmission

Ok i know where to connect for the intake manifold and alternator but the other 4 i have no clue . If any body can explain or better yet post some pics i would appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Also if or when someone helps. I will be sure to take pics of each grounding point step by step for future reference just incase someone else like me need help. Also with the stock ground cable from the negative battery terminal do i still need that or no??

I know on the 4th gens the engine block ground is in the middle of the block on the radiator side. Just follow the negative battery cable, and that should lead to the main ground.

Also on the 4th gens, the grounding points (2 of them) on the cylinder head runs off the injector harness, and is right in the middle of the front (bank 2) cylinder head.

There should also be a grounding point for the transmission on the outside of the dirver's side. If you can't find it, any bolt that is part of the assembly should suffice.

One more question, Does it absolutely have to be those 6 ground points that the instructions say or can i substitute a couple of them because the factory grounds are the chassis and the engine chassis. Can i just use those points instead of 2 of the ones stated?

Hi.Would you send pictures of the new 6 grounds to me after you did by e-mail? ([email protected]) I would like to rewire grouds for fixing a hard starting problem. I already did 3 new grounds which are from starter and the two bottom bolts of transmission to Negative batter terminal. I have the pictures of my job if you need I will send them to you.Thanks.

I would leave the stock grounding strap and connect the grounding kit on top of it if possible.

Other than that I don't see any reason for the battery to be dead unless it was somehow not getting charged (which I suppose would be possible if the ground wasn't getting to the battery).

so far its driving good but the longest its sat is a few hours. Also it kinda hesitated like it took a couple seconds to turn over and start but it did, just to be sure i ran a couple test to check the voltage. The voltage with the car off was 12.6 and with the car on (with headlights, heater and door open) the voltage was steady at 14.6. I also tried a test wher i turn the headlights on and rev the motor to see if the lights get brighter when i revved but they they were steady so everything voltage and charging wise looked good so im pretty sure it should start up in the morning if not im gonna be really p.off.

yep it started up this mornin, although i am still debating wether or not to put the stock back on because for some reason with the stock when i started my car, it would start right up as soon as i turned the key but now it kinda hesitates and take a few seconds to turn over, but after it starts it seems to drive really good and even more noticably smoother, so i think ill keep the kit for a week or so to see if theres any more problems. As for the pics, i will take them today so they should be up 1st thing in the morning. Maybe afternoon for u cause i think ur time is ahead a little?

well it looks like im gonna be takin the kit off now my car wont start AGAIN. Its charging now and soon as i get it started the kit is comin off. Im really pissed for the last 3 days all i been doing is charging my car. Im not sure why its dying out . But i hope i didnt short out the alternator or somethin cause that would suk. I think what im gonna do is put the stock cable back on but keep a couple of the new grounds as well. Now if it dies out again, then i ****ed up something. What only cost me 20 bucks off ebay is gonna end up costing me over 100 to buy a new alternator if thats the problem.

When I made three new grouds first time, it seemed like fixing the problem. It happened again at that night. So I would understand what the situation you are. If the alternator is gone, you can the low battery sign before the car is dead.

Thanks.
