cali wont get rid of the smog laws. all your "petition" would do it give them more ideas to take your money. see I, dont give a s***, i would never move to cali, im not naive, i just dont care because it doesnt effect me.katinkid wrote:so you rather get pulled over by some cop who has no clue what he is doing to give you a state ref ticket... have to completely change your car back to factory which costs $$$$ then pay a $450 ticket fee???
wow some naive people out there.
Hey brahhh, we don't get screwed, we live in KC.Shabbernigdo wrote:So since we get screwed by the law as tuners and the muscle guys dont you wanna try and change the law to screw them too?
sounds like some hatin to me.
ill pass
no due to the fact that they already dont get affected they would remain untouched.... only vehicles required for smog would fall under this.Shabbernigdo wrote:So since we get screwed by the law as tuners and the muscle guys dont you wanna try and change the law to screw them too?

you coulda added that in the first post i think its a good idea now. hey if you want to pay more money to make your car legal, so be it. but it think it would be pointless to try an institute a law that screws over classic car ownerskatinkid wrote:

, not to mention than there are more classic car guys that are better educated, with better knowlegde of laws(being that most hardcore classic guys are 40+ years old) not to mention there cars, and they have better connections than you EVER will, there cars will forever be smog exempt, while yours...uness its a vert, will never be, and the emmissions restrictions will only become more strictheartofaskyline wrote:

Spoken for the truth, California is suppose to be the lead example of emission standards in America, so why would they allow a gross polluter fee? Unless your car is 1975 and below, or you convert your car to a alternative fuel vehicle there is no way around a smog test.ashibah83 wrote:

p.s. im glad i live in Georgia......no inspections at all
I agree, its coo that you want to make a change, but try and get a swap kit that can be ref'd or get a big company to make a forced induction kit with Carb numbers.duffman1278 wrote:I see where you're getting at. I mean your idea isn't great but I mean I'll give you credit for trying. Most of us in the import scene just complain about getting tickets and when someone like you actually tries and wants to do something about it they just get crap said to them again.
I say go for it, honestly you're not going to get much support here. Most of us just don't have the time to put the effort into it. One reason why we possibly get more crap from the law for being into imports is because we do nothing about it and most of us can't afford lawyers in court haha.
GL though
How old are you?katinkid wrote:just doing a quick survey and am going to try and submit something to the state but in a nutshell it will be.
we see all of these muscle cars and such on the road with blowers and completely done engines they dont have to be smogged so there legal.
well those of us with vehicles not meeting current smog regulation. anything on your vehicle not factory "engine mods" are def pissed at current ca smog regulation, right? those state ref tickets suck.
so why not pay a polluters fee, have a gross polluters license?
not only would it help with the so called "emissions problems in CA"but it would also go towards state spending upgrading facilities, research, tax things like that.
who would be for that. idk about you but they would probly make a lot more money doing this for everyone, and i think everyone would be willing to pay to make their car street legal...
everyone wins who is up for it?

What the hell are you talking about?i240sx wrote:dont worry...once 1990 under won't have to smog you'll have a sr, rb, ca in your 240...every car has it turn...can't wait mine have another 12-14 more years until its smog free...
That's wrong. There's a big misconception that 30+ year old cars are exempt. Its ONLY for cars that were made in 1975 and/or OLDER that are exempt from this law. Go read California's state laws and you'll see. The years continue.i240sx wrote:dont worry...once 1990 under won't have to smog you'll have a sr, rb, ca in your 240...every car has it turn...can't wait mine have another 12-14 more years until its smog free...
