I just got through living your nightmaare...Being labled gross polluter in Cali is a kiss of death because ther are limited stations that can pass gross polluters That said, here is my path that included many wrong and expensive turns...
First advice--"replace the O2 sensor and you should be good to pass... maybe a new CAT..." Replaced CAT, O2 sensor, plugs, rotor and cap... Failed worse...
Second advise... "must need to clean your injectors and throttle body...I can do that for ya..."-- failed again
Third times a charm right..." what ya got here are defective electrical conections on your ingectors--- passed smog but failed visual as the check engine light came on
Fourth time---"you must have a short... may take a while to find it..." cleaned all conections from the wiring harness--- Failed cause I had 17" wheels that threw off the new Cali smog dyno
Fifth attempt--replaced stock wheels on rear for the test... Passed with flying colors...
Best of luck with your car... hope you do beter than I did... but now I am good for two years...
