Just what the title says, i have a groaning in reverse, not ALWAYS it started out only doing in first thing in the morning, and now its getting more and more constant, is it just my bad brakes, or a wheel bearing? any way to tell?

i think most rear wheel drive cars do this, but what im thinking of is a whine. mine always does it.. I did have i guess something like a groan and clunk sound every once and a while. I think the whine might be the diff. but i think the groaning clunk was from the brakes. if its not too bad i'd drive in reverse for a while w/ someone out side listening to it, maybe you can pin point it that way. I never worried about mine, but yours sounds possibly worse. good luck

check the drive shaft to see if it has any play or is loose, could be the joints

Next time it's making the noise try pulling the handbrake up and see if the noise goes.If it does check the rear brake shims, the ones on my car were bad so it made a groaning sound in reverse cause the pads moved to an angle.

Or the brake pads could be very bad...but I changed the ones in my car a couple of times and it didn't help.
