I know you guys get one of these almost everyday...I've been reading a lot of reviews but I haven't found what I was looking for since most reviews are for drifting. Well here's the list.Buddy Club Racing SpecStance Gr+KTSEndura-TechJICBCWhich one would you guys pick for twisty street/track grip coilovers. Feel free to suggest any other options. Keep it around 2k or under. And do not be bias towards price. Give some opinions and reviews if you have them on your ride. Are the valving of the shocks a good match for the spring rates, construction, ect.

Agreed about the bias part but I don't want people saying Megans or something because they are simply cheaper. I know the saying "you get what you pay for" but seeing all these reviews is contradictory. I had my mind set on Buddy Clubs originally but no one seems to have them.

Yes; the Coiled springs, go over the shocks.

Seriously though.Ground Control makes threaded spring perches as does Koni (BTW Koni's use a smaller ID spring, which results in lower unsprung weight). They also have coil over kits as well, though I am not sure if they make them for the 240 or not. But then again, why would you want a shock with good valving.

Koni yellows with a ground control coilover kit will run you around $1000, much better valving than the coilovers you listed.

That set-up would be good for a street cruiser but what about the track? The adjust ability also leans me towards coilovers. I know coilovers are not going to be as comfy as strut and springs.

I run this set up on my Miata, which is almost exclusively an autox slut.

Granted I have the -race shocks, and a wee bit stiffer rates than most 240 guys run (This is due to the difference in motion ratio).

The only down side to the Koni's is the difficulty in adjusting the rears.

The G/C or Koni adjustable spring perches let you adjust ride height.

You can get camber plates from TIEN for $100.00 or so.

Other than that, how is this set-up any less adjustable than a "coil-over"?

The only downside to the Koni's is adjusting the rears. Which require the springs to be removed, and you need something to hold the shock shaft in place while you compress them.

How often do you plan on adjusting ride height or the shocks?

How often do you plan to track the car verse how much street time will the car see?

Both of those factors should be considered.

Do you have any idea what spring rates you want / need?

I wasn't thinking of camber plates when I said that I have a friend that is also a miata enthusiast. He also had Koni yellows w/gc and didn't like the set up so he changed to Tein Flex. Check out Norcalroadsters.com

I have autoX'ed a miata on Tien Flex's. I have also ran several cars on Koni's.

I will keep my Koni's.

They are much easier to adjust then the 240's though.

Thanks fr the info. I think I'll go for either buddy club or silk roads. I don't know why you guys say stance are better than buddy club while this says otherwise http://zilvia.net/f/chat/17418....html

You can lead a horse to water. . . .

Some light reading before you make your purchase.http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets6.html

I have no idea if stance or buddy clubs are better.Good luck with your set-up.

BTW, almost every one I race with uses a Koni shock most of them use Yellows, some re-valved, some not. But almost no seriously competitive driver that I know runs JDM Coilovers (there are a few exceptions). Most run koni or /Bilstein/moton/ohlins/penski.

I still don't understand why you think a Spring shock combo is inferior to a "coilover". And with adjustable spring perches, I can't fathom what the difference is. You never did answer that question. I guess my threaded spring perch, shorted top hats, shortened & revalved shocks and 700/450lb springs aren't as good as a "coilover". All I can say is good luck, happy motoring, and be safe.

What ever, I'm out.
