transmission PROBLEM I THINK!!!!!my car will be at idle(90 240sx) and i will here a grinding noise comin and fade away in half second interval's and when i depress the cluth i will fade away, and when i'm driving it will sound fine and all of a sudden there is a big grind and a sound like i'm dragging something:shift, sounds normal and then that annoying sound comes back......here's the tricky part i just replace the clutch, throw out bearing, and pilot brearing.(ONE HOUR AGO..so that out rules all the clutch stuff..is it my transmission about to go out or is it my bearing for my driveshaft...it sound like one of those....sounds really nasty...PLEASE SOMONE HELP....I'M ABOUT TO BUY MY FIRST HOUSE I WANT TO FIX IT BEFORE IT BECOMES A HUGE PROBLEM.....THANXERIC

ok, is there sufficient fluid in the transmission

my car has a spinning sound when i push in my clutch, it sounds like yours may be like mine but worse, but my sound completely goes away when i push the clutch in

does it hapen when your driving and you push the clutch in while its still in gear and rolling?

yes brand new fluid..the name matched up directly with the manual and everything...i'm stomped...all the gears work and everything...i have a 95 transmission laying around i think i hear its a direct bolt up...but i want to see if i can save this transmission...has 170000 miles and i treat her really good too...the only gear i does not really grind or scratch in is fourth...?????????????thanx for the quick response..

Check the center drive shaft bearing. Raise the car (the back wheels esp, block the fronts), put it in gear and have someone run it at about 60 and listen for noise. Be sure to use jackstands and make CERTAIN it is solid before you crawl underneath it while it is running!!!!

alright i'll try that.....any other things...i'm probaly going to take it to a shop and let a mechanic drive it and see what he thinks...
