grinding when i put my clutch in

i was coming home from the store and i went to down shift and the transmission started to grind so i threw it in neutral and it still grinded till i let the clutch out. it only makes the noise when i shift above 3 grand and going from first to second and 3rd to fourth thats the only time it will do it. Any ideas throwout bearing maybe???

probably your clutch man.

a TOB wont cause this issue. first make sure your hydraulics are in order (no leaks, full fluid, proper adjustment)

then you are gonna have to pull the trans and have a look.
