grinding when i push clutch in

this only happens ssometimes. i believe it was wet out when it happened last. any help would be appreciated. it is a 93 240 and i live in new england so it has some rust

Sounds like your pilot bearing may be going. Weather may play a role if your lower inspection cover is missing contamination may have damaged the release bearing as well.

May be time to start thinking about a full clutch kit.

alright thanks. the previous owner said they replaced the clutch if that matters.
