when i shift at around 3500 to 4000 rpms and the clutch is pressed down all the way theres slight grinding going from 1st to 2nd. Someone said it might be either my master or slave cylinder....would this be true?

is it loud? can you feel it in the pedal? does the car stop pulling forward when it "grinds"?

its not that loud, and dont feel it in the pedal. and i also have a B&M shifter and its making alil bit more noise then usual. Its like when you try and shift fast and you mess up and grind because you didnt push on the clutch fast enough. I can shift thru but grinds thru. And if i press the clutch and rpms begin to fall and then shift no grinding at all.

Im going to see if i can bleed the slave to make sure theres no air bubbles.

If you have to wait until your rpms drop so that there is no grinding then it is likely that your sychronizers in your transmission are worn out. This is probably the highest wear item in a manual. Do you have a lot of miles and have you ever replaced your clutch?

You could try changing your oil with something good, like redline. Cheap alternative to pulling the trans.

That don't sound good partner- get up under the car and have a friend press the clutch- see if the slave cylinder is moving full travel- if it is then your synchros are gone. Rebuild it now before it is too far gone. When your driving around and your getting grinding, you are eff'ing it up bigtime.

What I did- got a junkyard transmission w/ 65,000 mi. on it for $350- flushed it out real good with mineral spirits and slapped her in with a new pilot and throwout bearing. A few quarts redline MT90... no more trouble.

Yea im going to check the slave before anything. I just got a rebuilt motor put in but used same transmission so basically the transmission has 137+ on it and a new clutch was put with in the past 6months. even the guy you put in my new motor asked if it was new cause of the good condition it was in. so ill probably go with the junkyard transmission if i need to. i have a 91 will any year between 91 and 94 fit to it?
