Grinding Sound when Starting

When I start the car I get a grinding sound. It could be a air sucking sound but do not know. The car continues to start though.

Is it all the time? could be a problem with how your starter interfaces with flywheel--like the solenoid is not throwing it all the way onto the gear. Give a bit better description.
