Grinding Sound

Hello,

I own a 1995 Nissan-Datsun 200SX car with about 160K miles on it. When I start the car at rest, I can hear a grinding sound in front of the passenger side of the hood. The sound stays for the first 100 meters when the car is in motion before it goes away.

Questions:
1) What could be the reason for this sound?

2) Is it dangerous to drive until this issue is fixed?

3) How long can I wait to fix it or should it be fixed tomorrow?

That could be a number of things,

Maybe you could describe the sound further, or any other details or symptoms.

I heard what I would call a rattling sound in my Nissan, kept driving and it turned out to be the timing chain... DEFINITELY don't want to be driving around on that.

But a grinding sound in front passenger could be something like a wheel bearing or a CV shaft. You can drive on those babies for awhile. And they are so considerate that they will start sounding worse, and more often, til you're worried enough you stop driving and fix it
