grinding sound at 3000 RPM

Hello yall, I am new to the forum. My brother in law gave me his s14 2 weeks ago because he doesnt want to sell it. Well it has a problem of making a grinding sound when I reach 3000 rpm. It makes the noise from first through fifth gear. Any sugestion on how to repair it and what cause this?

hmm.... a good start would be to find out where the noise is coming from... that could probably narrow things down

The grinding sound comes from the cooling fan. Also the fan is very loud around 2500 rpm.
