Post

I have a 2003 G35 coupe 6mt with 89k miles.
Since the last 2 months I have been noticing that every time I start the car in the morning, lst it idle for 1 minute then put it in reverse to get it out of my driveway.
Now halfway while coming out of the driveway the car makes a krrrrrrrrrrr kind of grunting sound, to which when I put it in neutral it goes away and then if I put it in reverse i never does it again until the next morning.

This never happens anytime during the day, it only when the car has been sitting all night or is totally cold.

The car drives like a dream, no problem whatsoever, only this sound in the morning when in reverse which goes away when put in neutral.

Please let me know.
Thanks

syncros most likely...Does it grind a bit when you put it into second? Just keep an eye on it...doesn't sound like a big deal though.

Depending on the weather, I have had slipping on my old cars clutch, but in the warm weather, no signs of the slipping. Could be the same thing on your G. And Yes after everything is warm, it went away.

Go have your flywheel resurfaced and the clutch replaced. Probably solve everything. However, there was no grinding that I was experiencing with the slippage. So.

Cannot resurface the dual-mass OEM Flywheel...can only replace.

I have the same problem in the morning and its catchy going into second. my guess is the syncros are about to go, but i was wondering if replacing the transmission fluid would help or is that a waste of money

It will help to replace your fluid with a good synthetic. However, if it is the syncros, you'll need to have the dealer fix it. They may just replace the transmission...
