I got some random chrome rims with my 240 when I bought it, they're eventually going to get replaced but they'll do till then once I strip off the chrome and pain them. Anyway when I went to look at the car one of the rims had a bad leak and apparently it was because he put brand new tires on corroded aluminum rims. He took it too a shop he works at while I waited and I think he said he ground it down and now 3-4 weeks later that rim still doesn't leak at all.

However after driving it 80 miles home, the other rear tire has developed a leak right around the lip like the old one, I've already pulled it off and made sure the rim wasn't bent, but I couldn't really see how corroded it was.

Is there any special way I'm suppose to grind the rim to get it to get a good enough seal where it doesn't leak anymore.

Yeah, I'm kinda a noob so go easy on me if I'm an idiot, I'm just kinda nervous to take a grinder to rim if I'm not really supposed to.

1. have the tire removed.

2. clean the crap that's acculmulated along the bead of the wheel.

3. sand the bead with and aggressive grit sandpaper.

4. reinstall tire.

5. drive.

I'll agree with that... I'm confused why you or your friend in this case didnt totally clean the entire wheel when the tires were off in the first place?

I didn't do it, I was busy so I left it at my old high school and my old teacher broke it off the rim and made sure it wasn't bent, then he just refilled it and checked it for leaks and he thought it sealed up after he refilled it. So I put it back on the 240 and let it sit overnight and when I went in my garage the next day it was flat again.

Hopefully I can get him to break it down tomorrow and just bring it home and clean and sand it then refill
